Curb Your Enthusiasm: very inventive dvd packaging

Just got this today and as a jaded dvd consumer, I was pleasantly surprised by the cool packaging for this (CYE season 1).

It's not extravagant or a big deal, or anything, just something kind of cool that I've never seen before.

(spoiling, in case you'd rather be surprised)
Spoiler:
It's a two disc set with openings on the top and bottom - as you pull on the bottom tray the top one also pops out by itself, sort of like a pop-up book.

Straightforward and classy.

That's gotta be a first. Spoilerized text for the type of packaging.

How is the set itself? I'm dying to see this. Extras, etc?

Commentary on the first episode and some interviews - not much else. But I've only watched the first episode so far, I haven't even looked at the second disc - which is where the extras are. The show itself looks and sounds fine - just a little better than digital cable reception.

But it does have near-infinite rewatchability.

But how did you get your copy early? I'm quite curious...

"connections", baby...

The hour long pilot is also on there, as an extra - which is fine, since it's not nearly as good as the actual show.

I picked up the set today. 30 bucks at Circuit City. I love the packaging, VERY COOL! I hope future CYE sets are like this. Great show too, by the way.

The hub has a death grip on my discs. Any tricks getting them out besides just pulling on the discs?

the packaging looks great, but they could have picked a better cover.

I would have liked a magazine ad they had of Larry staring at a half glass of water.

I believe the cover art corresponds to the promo photo used for that season (like The Sopranos). I seem to recall seeing that portrait when CYE premiered on HBO. It's safe to assume that the photo RandyM mentioned along with Larry being placed between two monkeys will be used as cover art for future seasons.

I love it. Definitely the most "true" cover I've ever seen.

Nope. It's just freakin' awful. Clever for clever's sake, and screw any notion of utility or longevity. Sucks sucks sucks.
