Superbit DVD help - Bad Boys
 

Hello,

I lent a friend Bad Boys superbit, and she says she gets no sound.

GUy at work said he heard that some superbit dvds gave problems on some players. THe brand of her dvd player is an RCA but I forgot the model, but I am more interested in knowing what the issue is in general.

The funny thing is, her player, used to be mine. I gave it to her (since she was only close friend without a dvd player and I have 3 in the house)...when I had it, I ran Fifth Element and Bram Stoker's Dracula superbits on it and it was fine. Bad Boys I got after I had given it away so I only tried it on my new player which was fine.

Any ideas?

Sure she's using DD instead of the DTS option (provided she lacks a DTS setup)?

I've had that problem with a few Superbits. Just tell her to toggle through the audio options to find the one that works for her.

Most Superbits default at DTS so she needs to select Dolby Digital.

Why do Superbit DVDs have DD, and not just DTS? I understand that not everyone has the ability to play DTS, but in all Superbit cases (I believe), there is a DD DVD counterpart. If they were to leave off the DD soundtrack, couldn't they improve/not compress the DTS soundtrack.

Per DVD specs it has to have some form of DD on the disc.

maybe the disc is playing on DTS sound and player is set to Dolby Digital..(could have reset itself when you gave it to her and she plugged back in) i know i had to change my setting on my player to turn DTS option on..wouldn't a DTS disc playing on a Dolby set up prevent from not hearing anything?
