Not sure but my collection of 250 has cost me $2000 total. Since I keep buying more quicker now I'll guess a little less than half were from 2003. I also don't get them as cheap anymore.
My guess is $900

A lot of you guys need to use Columbia House!
I probably spent around $1500 on DVD's this year. That's about 200 CH DVD's. Well, probably more like 150 since I bought some at the store. And I'm going to splurge this weekend and buy a bunch of Fox TV (King of the Hill, Family Guy, Simpsons, and possibly Mash) Sets at Sam's Club. So that'll probably be another $150.
Yea, it's an addiction. But hey, it's a lot cheaper than beer or smokes. And much healthier.

As for me, I would venture I spent somewhere around $2000 over the last year, with a gain of probably around 150 titles. I think I'll setup a spreadsheet to track my buying patterns this year so I can hopefully plan ahead in the future. Yes, I'm a nerd.

According to Dvdprofiler - 804 DVD's purchased in 2003, with another couple of hundred I haven't added into profiler yet, and several big orders that haven't yet arrived from the DDD 20% sale. I don't keep up with the cost for each disc, but going by my total credit card charges for the year (used almost exclusively for online dvd purchases) - I'd estimate the total to be somewhere in the $11,000 - $12,000 Range. Those damn box sets are really starting to get out of hand.
Man, you just made me realize how pathetic I am - Thanks so much!
I think I just figured out what my New Year's Resolution should be.

Wow I dont know how you guys can spend that much. I just started getting into the dvd craze within the last year, and at this time last christmas I had 2 dvds, now Im up to 30. Its not much but its a start, thankfully I didnt have to pay for 90% of them so thats nice.

Aw... my estimate goes around $2500-3000 (i dont keep any kind of records). However, i sold some 50 DVD's few months ago. Must have bought atleast 50 Criterion DVD's or more this year.
Promise for year 2004: Will buy less (focus on Criterion/Oldies)

Damn, I was sure I'd kept it under $1500. The total spent in 2003 was $1747.92. Add in DVDs received as gifts and it's roughly $2050... That total is not including any tax or S&H paid.
Spent roughly $400 last year, around $150 the year before and well below $100 for each year going from 98-00.

I would say over $10,000 - bought too many to be accurately check.
I spent over $5000 from FYE 20% sale in the beginning of the year and over $3000 from recent DDD sale. and lot of DVDs in between.
I have no idea how many I bought this year, but I have about 1500 DVDs total (and thats counting boxset as 1)
Im planning to cut down next year.

I used to track this in a spreadsheet, but haven't really in the last couple of years. I'd venture a guess at roughly $1000. I wish I could spend more, but the family has insisted that I stay on a budget.

I'm not sure, but its probably over a $1000. I've all but stopped buying new release movies as 99% of them are crap and I will probably never rewatch them. I still by classic movies and I love the TV box sets. Thats were most of my expense is.

I'm enjoying seeing all the "next year I'm not spending as much" replies. Good luck! If you really want to cut back, coming to DVDTalk isn't the answer. With all talk about bargains you'll never break your addiction. I'm a proud addict. By the way, I have no idea what my total for the year but it was a big chunk of my income.
