If someone gave you a FS (non-oar) DVD as a gift what would you do?

I'd try returning it, or give it to twikoff :p

REL77 12-20-03 03:14 PM

definitly return it, or exchange it, and then if that didnt work, trade it away... I am not going to watch a Full Screen DVD on my 57" Widescreen TV

PixyJunket 12-20-03 03:42 PM

Pee my pants in glee. :D

Ginwen 12-20-03 03:45 PM

I'd exchange it in early January (after the lines die down). Why keep junk?

matome 12-20-03 04:07 PM

Burn it, so no one else will have to be subjected to it!

gutwrencher 12-20-03 05:05 PM

I'd say thank you very much and decide later if I'm going to keep it or trade/sell it. is it the only way the film comes? then I might keep it. if not...just exchange it if you can. depending on the person who gave it to you and how sensitive they are....you can explain the importance of ws then or later....after the holidays.

davidlynchfan 12-20-03 05:09 PM

Gift Wrap it and give it back to them and say : WOW what a coincidence! we both got the same gift for each other.Do it slyly though.

tommyp007 12-20-03 05:27 PM

Educate the giver on DVD theology, then return it for WS.

djones6746 12-20-03 05:35 PM

I would sell it on ebay at a discount and use the money to buy the widescreen version. :)

Fok 12-20-03 06:16 PM

Probably trade it, hopefully I've educated my friends enough not to buy me FS

acostigan 12-20-03 06:31 PM

None of those. Where's the vote option for exchanging it?

Dammit 12-20-03 06:59 PM

Accept it and say thank you instead of being an ass and explaining what they did wrong. If I could exchange it without them knowing I would but I wouldn't say anything about it when accepting the gift.

boston george 12-20-03 07:12 PM

Shove it down their filthy hobbit throats. That'll learn 'em.

Vision Society 12-20-03 07:23 PM

I would accept it and be thankful to get a gift.

Ergyu 12-20-03 08:48 PM

I would accept it as well, and understand that no one is perfect.

I was JUST thinking of this too. We have this [lisp] "Secret Santa" [/lisp] going on at work and everyone knows that I like DVDs. Chances are I would have anything they would buy me, and they would most likely get fullscreen if they didn't know (per my great luck.)

If I didn't already own it I would probably watch it too. I'm not that big of a snob.

You sir, are one of the few fine folks on this borad.

mikewendt 12-20-03 09:09 PM

exchange at store

ScottyWH 12-20-03 10:17 PM

I would keep it until I managed to replace it with an OAR version.

RevKarl 12-20-03 11:39 PM

I'd either exchange it for the widescreen version... or, more likely, for another DVD that I actually wanted (If someone gave me a FS disc, it would probably be as a joke.)

madcougar 12-21-03 12:03 AM

I'ld punch the b*tch in the eye.

Seriously I'ld say thank you and let it go.

dom56 12-21-03 09:38 AM

Kill Santa.

illennium 12-21-03 09:47 AM

I can't think of a single movie I like that has come in separate full screen/widescreen versions.

vivarey 12-21-03 09:52 AM

Got Indy FS for my bday and exchanged it for WS w/o a receipt. No big deal - and not worth putting the giftgiver in the uncomfortable position of having to return a would-be quality gift over something like that.

Wow, you're just better than this whole thread and all of us. Kudos on that!

Geofferson 12-21-03 10:40 AM

I'd most likely return it to the store.
