TCM 2003 DVD News

For New Line's home entertainment division, the DVD scene is no laughing matter. Especially when it comes to their recent horror titles, no matter how each one respectively fares at the box office. This Summer saw the release of an Infinifilm version of Final Destination 2 (review) and this Fall a Platinum Series Willard Special Edition, each bearing all the trimmings of a stellar presentation. Come January 13th, New Line will continue their excellence with a Platinum Freddy vs. Jason as well. Specs and artwork have come in, courtesy of New Line, for the wholesome family entertainment that is the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake DVD. Directed by Marcus Nispel and starring Jessica Biel, Eric Balfour, and Andrew Bryniarski, TCM '03 is aiming to cut up the competition in two presentations when it arrives on shelves March 30th. One presentation will be a two-disc Plantinum Series edition. It'll retail for $39.92 (who comes up with this shit?) and arrive in a "collectible and removable metal plaque cover." Here are the complete specs that accompany this version and a glimpse at the menu screen: 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen Transfer English Dolby Digital EX 5.1 Track English DTS ES Surround Track 3 Audio Commentaries with Director Marcus Nispel, Michael Bay & More Chainsaw Redux (Making Of) Documentary Selection of Deleted Scenes Alternate Opening and Ending Crime Scene Photographs Motograter "Suffocate" Music Video Gein: The Ghoul of Plainfield Documentary Cast Screen Tests Various Art Galleries Script-to-Screen (DVD-ROM) Original Theatrical Trailers Seven TV Spots English & Spanish Subtitles If that's considered overkill to you and you'd like a presentation that's a tad more anemic, New Line will be releasing a regular edition for $27.95. This version will contain a music video, trailer, and seven TV spots. This Texas Chainsaw Massacre took a lot of heat from fans throughout production yet scared up $80 million to date. Go figure. I will definately be picking up the platinum edition. This was my fav movie of '03 (my fav movie period). I can't wait for March 30th!!!! |
