Recommend some good lesser-known period pieces

What are some good DVDs of movies that are period pieces and are lesser-known? Pretty much anything that's not Braveheart, Gladiator, Spartacus, Ben-Hur, Gangs of NY, etc.

Possession incorporates a victorian storyline into it's plot, and it's done rather well IMO.

While these aren't lesser known in the big scheme of things, they're definitely less known than the blockbusters you listed.

Dangerous Beauty
Dangerous Liaisons
Elizabeth
Man In the Iron Mask
Sense and Sensibility
Three Musketeers
Young Guns

Red Scorpion. A fantastic cold war movie starring E. Emmet Walsh, and Dolph Lungren.

I would second the above recommendations for Qui-Gon on a sled, or in a kilt.

I thought the 2002 version of the Count of Monte Cristo was really good. Scaramouche is also a great period swordfighting movie (longest swordfight in Hollywood history, I believe).

The mini box-set of the Three Musketeers and Four Musketeers is a nice deal, too---great anamorphic prints of two great movies.
