DVDs for my Mom?

I'm getting my parents a DVD player for Xmas, and getting my Dad a bunch of WWII DVDs, but can't figure out what to get my Mom. I want to get her a couple so she doesn't have to watch all my Dad's movies. But I'm not sure what to get her =/ . I can't even begin to think of what types of movies she likes. She doesn't like weepy love stories, so other than that, what types of movies should I look into that most women seem to like? Thanks a lot.

If she like music why not try some musicals like:

Singin' in the Rain Collectors Edition
Guys and Dolls
Brigadoon
South Pacific
Oklahoma - the new version with Hugh Jackman is fantastic!

...These are just a couple my girlfriend likes...and some that I do as well.

I'd recommend that GG Allin documentary "Hated." It's a movie the whole family can watch together after Christmas dinner.

You probably can't go wrong with some romance / comedy stuff.

Father of the Bride
Jerry Maguire
Forest Gump
Bridget Jones Diary
My Best Friends Wedding
Pretty Woman

If you don't know what she likes get her a gift certificate to Borders, Amazon, Suncoast, pick your favorite. Or better ask her what genres she likes. What kinds of movies or tv shows did she like growing up? Is she into music? what kind? Ya gotta give us something to go on.

My mom likes funny stuff that isn't crude humor, and romantic comedies are usually good because they aren't too mushy.

Or you could just ask her what type of movies she likes conversationally, or go the gift certificate route.

Actually she watches TVLand more than anything....that and HGTV (= . Any good old box sets of shows on TVLand? I suppose I could get her "A Christmas Story", she's always liked that movie. Thanks for the help.

I think that you need to learn more about your mom. Isn't something like what type of movies and/or her favorite movies, some basic type of information that everybody should know about their mom? I am sure that somewhere in the back of your mind you must have a sense of what she really would like.

If you are not sure, I would second the gift certificate route. last Christmas I purchased a DVD player and some movies for my parents. Now my mom liked the DVD player, as she does like to watch and rent movies, but she is not into buying DVDs. My wife is the same way. She will probably never buy a DVD for herself. Some people just aren't that into buying DVDS. So if you mom falls into this category a gift certificate for a place like Borders or Amazon could also be used for something else in case she doesn't actually want to purchase a DVD.

Driving Miss Daisy.
Maybe you could get her Star Trek Voyager in Feb. she might like the idea of a female captain.

How about a couple I got my Mom for Christmas:

The Sure Thing
The Flamingo Kid
Young Sherlock Holmes
When Harry Met Sally

All of these are pretty cheap as well.

Hey she's like my wife.
Do not hesitate to get her A Christmas Story. It is the most quotable holiday movie ever made. :D You might want to get her something like The Honeymooners or You Bet Your Life. These are something she might not readily see on TVLand but are in the same vein. Classic movies always are a good choice too. Casablanca, Gone With The Wind may be a good choice.

Why not just ask her what she likes?
