Pirates Of Caribbean Pc Question

Hey guys,

Sorry if this is a dumb-ass question....but I just picked up POTC and want to check out the enhanced computer features. I popped the disc into my mac, and the movie and special features play, but when I click onto the enhanced computer features menu, it just gives me a trailer for what the features are. I've never used the PC features on a disc before...so please help me out. What do I have to do to access the features?

Thanks again for helping out a newbie.

DVD-ROM features are, I believe, PC-only. In other words, if you're using a Mac, you won't be able to see them.

I could be wrong, though.

actually, the case says it won't work in a mac, just like every other dvd with dvd-rom content. this only annoys me when i think about it. i mean, i must in some way be paying for that stuff and yet i've never seen any of the dvd rom content of any of my dvds because i use a mac. but i gather i'm not really missing that much.

(note: i haven't actually verified that none of the dvds have mac friendly dvd-rom content...i'd hope the pixar dvds would if they have any dvd-rom stuff...)

What can i say, Macs suck ;)

Unfortunately the special features on this disc are PC only because they are designed to use an interactual player which is currently only for PC...

Any Mac programmers out there who wanted to take a crack at making a Mac version of interactual... could easily become a millionaire on the licensing alone... I kid you not... I have heard how much they charge just to license their technology... and it aint cheap.

But in the meantime not all DVD Rom features on all DVDs are only for PC... it depends on who is creating the ROM and what deals they (the studios) have with whom.

the HBO series "From the Earth to the Moon" was created for both PC and Mac... hopefully as the number of Macs in the marketplace grows... so will the demand for ROM materials for both platforms.

What's amusing about this is that a pretty significant percentage of industry types (in much greater percentages than the 3% of the rest of the world) actually use Macs.

Hell, a lot of movies are edited on Macs.

Most of the really "big dogs" (ILM, Pixar, etc.) use Sun thought, don't they? Especially for overnight builds and rendering?

Well, this is why sharp consumers choose PC's. Mac's do really suck.

I think many of the biggies are moving over to Linux on x86 systems.

Hey all,
To use the DVD-ROM features on POTC, you need the latest InterActual software off their website...www.interactual.com . I think it is version 2.05, or something.

They also have a software that is compatible with Mac OS X 10.3, so even Mac users can enjoy these features.

Hope this helps...oxonce

They figure if you can't figure out more than one mouse button, there's no way you'd be able to figure out the DVD-ROM extras.
