Definitely. I don't even want to admit how many I have to watch still. Probably close to 50. I need to stop buying.

This is a problem for me too. My backlog is easily in the 100 range. Rentals and TV on DVD really bite into my viewing time-hoping to rectify that soon. I spend so much time concentrating on getting all DVD's viewed that I don't get to revisit many of my favorites. I'm going to take a break from TV sets for a while since I always go through those right away to make sure they're OK.

I'm hoping to be caught up by summer.

Mine too. A lot of discs in my backlog are anime dvds. I have seen a lot of the shows already in fansubs and others I just pick up on release because they are limited so I have to. Eventually I will get to them.

Yeah, a good number of my regular movie backlog is movies that I have seen in one way or another (theater/TV) but have yet to watch the DVD.

Of course, I think the number of unwatched DVDs is between 100-150. Now others in my family may have watched some of the discs.

I'm down to about 10 unwatched DVD's after making a concerted effort to catch up. I've severely cut down on my going to the movies because it basically cost me $20 a movie as I invariably end up paying for someone else too. At that price, I'm just buying DVD's and inviting people over. Sometimes they bring beer!

My backlog is enormous. I've even got Netflix sitting on my dvd player waiting to be watched. It all started with the tv boxed sets--15-20 hours spent on one title, in other words. A lot of movies go unwatched primarily because of this. I'm still watching season 2 of 24, and have no idea when I will finish. I've got the TTT:EE to watch this weekend, and that take priority over everything else right now. Maybe when I'm on vacation I'll get to catching up on some of my dvd's.

In the old days, when DVDs were $1 each on the Net, I got way more than I could watch.

Today, with prices higher, I only get about 2-3/month, so I can usually keep up with it.

On the other hand, ever since I got my TiVo, my DVD viewing has dropped, though my collecting hasn't.

You guys are crazy, why buy something you never watch. I only have a couple DVDs I haven't watched, most of them I received as gifts. By the time some of you hardcore guys decide to start watching half your movies, they will probably be out on a newer better format, oh well, half the fun is the collecting them. I shouldn't criticize though, if I could afford to buy everything I wanted I would likely be in the same boat.

Wow those are a lot of movies. The dvds I buy new I watch right away and the ones that I buy used from the video stores just sit there for a couple months.I dont think its good though because most used movies only have a 2 week return policy on them if they are defective. So if I watch them 2 months later and they dont work then I guess I'm a little screwed. Luckly I havent had that problem.

Were I to stack up all the DVDs I own but haven't yet watched, chances are good that somebody would walk by my enormous stack and say, "my, what an enormous stack."

But so be it; as it turns out, I'm buying for posterity, anyway. My first kid will arrive here shortly, and I want to make sure he has plenty of R-rated films at his disposal so that -- at least until he's seventeen -- he'll never lack for friends.

I have no unwatched DVDS at the moment. All of the unwatched DVDS I could ever want are on a shelf at my local Best Buy and/or Blockbuster. If I get the urge to watch an unwatched disc I can just go there and get it.

I can understand having a few unwatched. Sometimes it can take a while to get caught up if you buy a box set or a tv series. I will probably pick up the two new bond sets. It will take me some time to watch them all. But to have 492 unwatched DVDs. I just don't see the point to that. Even if you take a low average price of 5 bucks a disk that is like 2500 dollars worth of unwatched stuff just sitting on a shelf. I don't get that. I would rather have the 2500 bucks in the bank for a rainy day, or if I had 2500 bucks of fun money I would rather spend it on something I would use, maybe upgrade my home theather equipment or something like that.
