The FOTR:EE cost 39.90 euros here in Finland, and the price never dropped below 35. I suppose TTT:EE will be the same price.

Why is the case brown? Does it look like a match sitting next to LOTR:TFOTR EE?

I believe they consider it a dark red. And, from what I have heard, ROTK will be in blue.

RGB . . . Red, Green, and Blue . . . can't match much better than the subtractive primary colors. :) I guess they could have gone with the additive ones, but then we would have had yellow instead of green . . . :yack:

It's not illegal, stores will not get "put out", and there are NO fines for breaking street date.

The worst that can happen for big chains is loss of co-op advertising dollars, and repeat offender smaller chains may have to wait until well after street date to get product from the studios that they broke street date on.

You don't always have to overpay to get releases before the street date. I know a place (The name will not be disclosed, I don't want to put them out of business) nearby that does break the street date with sale prices. I picked up Warner's To Have and Have Not DVD 9 days prior to it's release for $15.98, among others.

Issues, I live in Jersey, where are you located? I thought I knew about every hole in the wall in the state? Please let me know.

HEY...that just rememinded me...there is a video store a few blocks away from Port Authority that had XXX like 2 weeks before it came out..but it was like 29.99...they probably have the flix too...but its either pay 30.00 now for T3...or wait till Walmart gets it for 14.87...same with TT EE.

First off i could care less what what people think about me on a chat dvd forum. Well if your low on funds and don't make that much money yes 5 to 10 more will kill you but if you make nice amount a week and 20 dollars is almost nothing then who cares. I was just tring to give some of you guys a peek at what's in it. Last time i checked it was my money. From from the emails i got seems like it is a good price casue everyone wants to know where it is.

He GETS them early and he lets me have them when he does, but he doesn't SELL them early.

Your best bet is to drive around and visit independant, mom/pop video stores. Two out five will likely sell stuff early, as they get it - but it may cost you around retail price. I, personally, would rather wait a week or two and get something cheap than to pay more earlier.

Let people pay $ 40.00 if they want TTT EE right now. Let them brag about it. I don´t care. However, when the rest of us have got it in our hands for $ 20-25 those who paid $ 40.00 must surley have a bad taste in their mouth.

"Issues" are you making up the store that you get these DVDs early at? I've asked several times what store & have yet to get a reply, just an email asking where I'm located & I answered.

A lot of people here buy a lot of DVDs, and even people who make a pretty healthy living probably couldn't afford such extravagant DVD collections if they didn't cut corners.

Even $5 per movie really adds up on a collection of 200 movies.

LOTR is probably a special case for a lot of people, but in general, I think most of us, even those of us who are pretty well off, would rather have cheap movies than early movies.

I know. Best I saw the FOTR:EE for was $24.99.

You may not like the answer: using current offers, one can get TTT:EE for the equivalent of $16.54, shipped, at Columbia House. But, of course, it won't arrive until a few days after release date so it won't work for instant release day gratification... :)

I'd be pretty surprised if you could find a B&M store selling them for $20 or less until, perhaps, Black Friday. Target did eventually sell FOTR:EE for $19.99 but that was several months after it was released IIRC. In the thread in the Bargains forum some have said they think it might be $19.99 at Wal-mart, but that sure won't be the case at the Wal-mart nearest me; no competition at all here.

I used the STL and my trivia balance at Amazon and got it for less than $21 shipped.

Come on guys, we're on a DVD Forum where people have 1000+ dvd's and don't even open 100 of them. Spending an extra 10 bucks to get a movie 2 weeks early should certainly be within your grasps :)

I have a couple of questions for the rest of you guys who have also already bought it:

Doesn't the packaging say something about a special painting by Alan Lee or John Howe? All that was in mine was the booklet.

Also, has anyone found any easter eggs beyond the Gollum acceptance speech?

I have an extraa copy of X-2 Sealed if anyone can trade me a copy of TTT Extended editon in the next week. Obviously I will pay the difference in price.

Ok so lets hear all about everything in the extended scenes. It's great you have it (I have a distributor which sells to us 2 weeks early on most big releases if we want them, but I opted to skip this time).

Well after reading some of the replies I guess I will no longer go to the movies I mean I should just use that money and get the dvd when it comes out. Also better never rent a movie and see if I like it I can use that cash to buy the movie. I mean the things I listed may be seen as wasting money being as it will just lit me see it before the dvd comes out. Man sure allot of jealous folks in this thread. Also people saying I want to save money blah blah. Well I think it's a waste of money to have speakers that are bigger then you're damn TV and a sub that is damn 4 feet tall. I mean how damn big are peoples house for god sakes?! What is wasting money to one man may seem like money well spent to someone else.

I got no idea why anyone would say the guy wasted his money. So to the guy who made this thread I want to thank you very much for showing off the art on the discs and stuff. I'd be happy to see future pictures of things you get before they come out.

Well not quite "in hand" yet, but on it's way . . . DDD sent me an email saying that my TTT EE gift set was mailed out today . . . I may actually get a pre-order early for once! Woo-hoo!!! :D

Not in hand either, but I still enjoyed watching it. :) great stuff.

I'm a little bummed - my copy of TT:EE is kind of smashed up in the spine (the fold-out, not the slip-case) and I really have to shake the case to get it out. Also, the insert's pages weren't glued together well and it all fell apart.
