Reality TV on DVD. Would you be interested?

So much hatred for such a broad genre... -shrug-
I like some reality tv, but couldn't imagine owning most on DVD simply because knowing the outcome ruins some of the repeat value of it.
That said though, I'd actually like some of the Real Worlds on DVD -- mostly older seasons... Season 2: Los Angeles would be the one I'd be most interested in.
Despite knowing the end, I might be interested in Amazing Race.
I wouldn't mind having some shows like National Geographic's Worlds Apart on DVD. That's a pretty cool show which I think could stand up to repeat viewing.
I'd have some interest in some of the PBS reality tv like 1940s House, but not sure that I'd pay money for it.

I wouldn't mind owning a few Real Worlds on DVD. The only other reality show I could see myself owning is Family Business. Most of the reality shows nowdays are just crap, so why would I waste time and money on them; especially if I saw them the first time around. But it would be nice to be able to go to a rental place and pick up a season of a show you missed - but I think that's true for every show, not just reality.

Absolutely, positively, unequivically no. Don't want 'em.
I think the hatred over reality TV is that it is the same old schtick that's been done before. I watched the Real World many many years ago. But THAT even got old. Then years later network TV get's the reality bug. My thinking was "Hello!! Been done before!!" Putting aside the fact that it has NO entertainment value for me. I do enjoy the game shows, i.e. Dog Eat Dog and Fear Factor but even those are getting old.
Variety is what I want. Not the same old tired reality show.

I absolutely despise reality TV and can't wait for the fad to die a painful death (can't see that happening anytime soon though)...
...however, that said, I would buy a dvd release of JOE SCHMO in a heartbeat. While all the hype was geared towards "when's he gonna find out?!", the real joy of this show was the biting satire of reality TV in general. I think the last couple of episodes sort of lost focus on this aspect of the show in an effort to resolve the series, but the first 5 or so were comedy gold. The love triangle set up between two of the female contestants and the host was great, and the talent show was absolutely hilarious.
If Spike TV re-airs the entire series, I'd definitely recommend checking it out, even if you hate reality TV (like me).

And, isn't there variety in the genre itself? Dating shows, game shows, "social experiments", cultural, etc. I don't know if the term "reality tv" has even been defined. Is Trading Spaces reality TV? What about Junkyard Wars?
I would say the differences between Real World, Amazing Race, Fear Factor, and 1940s House are huge. Real World probably has more in common with a sitcom or drama than it does with 1940s House or Junkyard Wars. Just because they all happen to be "reality tv" doesn't mean they should all get lumped together. I really don't think its fair to lump them all together. I considered PBS's reality series to be educational as well as entertainment. Stuff like Junkyard Wars, Fear Factor, and even to some degree Survivor are more like game shows than traditional "reality tv" like the Real World. Trading Spaces is basically a redecorating/home improvement show -- but is still "reality tv."
I guess the thing I don't like about people saying they hate reality tv is... What is reality tv? Is it Bachelor and Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire? Then I agree with you. Ick. But, for me, it's a very broad "genre" if you can even say it is its own genre.
I see little in common with one of my new favorite shows, Worlds Apart (on Natl Geo) and a show like The Bachelor other than they both have non-actors as their central "characters."

What might have been a more interesting question is: For those of you who do enjoy Reality TV, would you be interested in Reality TV on DVD? I think it's pretty obvious that if you don't enjoy it to begin with, it's pretty unlikely you'll enjoy it on DVD.
Anyway, I'm not a huge fan, but I do enjoy a few shows. That said, I wouldn't buy them. The little Reality TV I do watch is basically to see what will happen next and who will win. Once I know that, I wouldn't really enjoy watching it again. I would consider a Best Of disc under the right circumstances, but I can't see myself get an entire season. And I can only think of one or two cases where I'd even consider a Best Of type of disc (i.e. Will from Big Brother 2 just because he was so darn funny).

Bands on the Run and Last Comic Standing would actually be pretty good. It's too bad Dat won. As for Flickerstick, they were definitely the best (or least hideous) band on the show, and I'm not just saying that because I'm from Dallas.

Put me down for Amazing Race and Last Comic Standing.
Joe Schmo is being re-aired starting next Tuesday at 9:00 pm ET with the first episode. Note: Seems SpikeTV is splitting the 2hr premiere in half as its only listed from 9:00 pm ET to 10:00 pm ET with the 2hr finale airing directly after from 10:00 pm ET to 12:00 am ET. So if you a newbie, turned the channel right when the premiere episode ends.
Other finale re-airs: Sunday: 8:00 pm ET/12:00 am ET. Monday: 11:05 pm ET or whenever RAW ends. Nov 8: 4:00 pm ET.
According to someone who works at the show (goes by Wiggum on the TWOP "Joe Schmo" board) there are plans in work for a "Joe Schmo" DVD.

I use to wish for The Mole to be on DVD. But now I've finally gotten past The Mole craving and I don't think I can watch any reality show on DVD over again once I saw it on TV. Not enough of replay factor.
