What plan are you on, and how many discs do they send you a month using this plan?

What is your turnaround time?

I'm on the 3 plan now, but I'm switching to 5 next month. The main reason is I'd like to not have to go to Blockbuster as much, if at all, if I get the impulse to see a specific movie. Unfortunately since I live in Alaska, my turnaround time is a bit slow. It seems to take a disc about 4-5 days each way. Turnaround time seems to be around 10 days from the time I send and old disc back to the time I get a new one. I only wish I had the 2-3 day turnaround times. They need a hub in Seattle dammit!

1. I'm on the 3-out plan, and you get unlimited rentals per month.

2. My turnaround time is very quick, usually about one or two days. If I send a movie back I will usually have one the next day, or the day after that, depending on what time I send the dvd back to them.

I bounce between the 3 and the 5 depending upon how many are in my queue, what's in the queue and how many other titles I'm buying that month. W/ the 3 there are a couple of days I'm w/o something but w/ the 5 I pretty much have a new movie showing up every day :D If I were you I'd probably give the 8 a try and see if I could establish a pattern where I only had 1 on hand and the rest were either coming or going (that is if you like/have time for a DVD a day ;)).

I'm on the 3 plan. Turnaround time is only 3 days. I've not been to Blockbuster in six months! I love this service. :)

8 out at a time plan. I have a lot of TV related discs in my queue ;)

They just opened a center in Madison WI, so my turnaround time has changed from 2 days to 1. :)

I am on the 3 out unlimeted plan. But I just closed my acct because after 6 months of heavy heavy using, they are now slowing me down. The turn around time was 2 days. They shipped monday, I got it tuesday, I shipped it Wed and they got it thursday and shipped it out on Thursday . It was nice

I am on the 5 out plan, when they ship monday I normally get it wed, and it seems like if i can have them mailed back by friday my next batch is mailed out on monday

I was grandfathered in on the 4 out plan and my turnaround time is 2 to 3 days.

I'm on the old 2-out plan [where you have unlimited rentals per month; now the 2-out has a max of 4 out per month, which sucks.]
I put a DVD in the mailbox at my house Friday night for Sat pickup. I got an email today, before work, saying they had received it. My ship time has been around 2 days pretty consistently for quite some time. It's going from NC to PA, so it's not all that far, but I'm still impressed.
I also watch a lot of TV on DVD. I don't often have time to sit down for a 2 hour movie, but I can do a 22 or ~50 minute TV show [or anime] episode no problem. Plus, anime/tv on dvd can be expensive, and honestly, most of them I'd only watch once anyway.
I get anywhere from 4 to 15 disks a month, depending on how fast i watch them and what else is going on in my life.
For the OP, with that kind of turnaround time, I would definitely suggest trying at least the 5 plan, if your budget can handle it. It's not necessarily Netflix's fault, a lot of companies don't do anything for Alaska or Hawaii, but I definitely can understand your frustation.

I'm on the 4 out unlimited plan (grandfathered in like shrike), and I can now put a return in the mail on Monday and get its replacement on Wednesday. It used to take a week or more.

I do miss the days when I could pop outside and drop a return in the mailbox, then come back in and click on "I've returned this movie, send me the next one". Cheaters ruined it.

I'm on the 3-Out plan. Unlimited a month. I usually get a new disc 1-2 days after dropping in the mail.

I have the 3-out plan also....it usually takes them 2 days to arrive when they ship. For example, my 3 movies that shipped today, I should get Wednesday. I returned those movies Friday....it's a pretty fast turnaround. It seemed faster though in the past for some reason. I do have a NetFlix distribution center in Lansing, MI also....which is not far away at all really....just a few hours.

I am on the 8-out plan and generally get 3-4 day turnaround (i.e., the DVDs that go out in tonight's (Monday) mail will get to Netflix tomorrow (Tuesday), and I'll get replacements either Wednesday or Thursday.

That being said, we have a distribution center in the Sacramento area, so it's only about a 45 minute drive from them to me.

I have the 3-out plan. My turnaround is 3 days. I usually cycle through a minimum of 12 disks per month. Great service.

I'm on the 3 out plan. My turn around time is 2 days. Mail on Monday, receive new on Wednesday or Thursday latest. I'm in Chicago and there's a hub in Chicago. So that helps.

I usually watch 3 a week so i average 12/month. Have not been to BB in 5 months. yay!

are you serious? since when, I live in madison, my turn around is about 3-4 days, sometimes it will take a little longer, it seems like whenever I return all 3 I have out the same day, I will bearly ever get all 3 back the same day

I'm on the 3 out as well..... In the Seattle, WA Area everythings usually received the day after its shipped.

I was also grandfathered in on the 4 out plan and usually have a turnaround time of 3-4 days.

I started on the four plan but it really became too many movies to watch and I hated having them just sit around on the coffee table for weeks, so I switched to three and that seems to be the best for someone who doesn't want to watch a movie every single night (I know there's a few of you on this board, right?)

I joined as soon as I found out they opened a distribution cener near Seattle. Turnaround is usually 2 days, as short as it possibly could be. Only time it isn't is when it has to come from California, but it always takes just one day for them to receive it from me.

Somewhat off topic, but what is the BEST way to join Netflix. I've been resisting it for a long time, but reading this thread, I think I'm finally going to give in. Should I just do the "FREE TRIAL" first, is there a way to join & get discounts (i.e.) if someone refers me. Any help is appreciated.

- Also, could someone list the negative aspects of netflix? Are title's often not in when you want them?

Sessa--the way I joined is via their website. You get 2 weeks free with their 3-out plan, and then they will charge you the price for whatever plan you choose after 2 weeks. I'm not aware of any discounts or specials--if someone refers you I believe you get the same deal as everyone else.

Negative aspects for me--getting discs in the mail that are scratched up almost to the point of unplayability, and probably the fact that new 2-disc sets are counted as 2 titles(unless the movie is split onto 2 discs, then it is one title).

As far as I can tell, there are no 'referral bonuses' or anything. There are of course the ubiquitous '2 Week Free Trial' which really isn't a long enough time period to judge, but hey, it's free. That's the only thing I've seen. A while back I have seen free month offers, but not recently.
Also, around the holidays two years ago, they had 'gift memberships' which I should have taken advantage of--they offered a discount based on how long a membership you were going to give [but you couldn't buy it for yourself, it had to be for a new member.] It was still a good offer.

Negatives: they used to advertise 'we have [almost] every DVD in print!' They don't anymore. About once every 6 months I will get a notice saying 'Title XXX is no longer available, we apologize.' Sometimes it's an OOP that apparently got lost or broken, which I guess happens. They used to have a lot more adult titles than they do now, I think they quit carrying them as a whole.
My queue currently consists of 126 titles, and 8 of them are on a 'Wait' of some sort [2 new releases, 2 horror, 2 cult/'special interest', and 2 just random things.] But you can always rearrange stuff so that something 'in stock' is at the top [or leave the 'Wait' stuff at the top so you'll get it, but if you wait for too long, NF'll automatically send you the next available thing.]
All in all I really like Netflix. Probably 80 titles out of the 126 are things Blockbuster would never have, and I am a lot more willing to try things I wouldn't pay cash for.

And PalmerJoss is right--multidisk sets [tv on dvd, f'instance] are usually by-the-disk, opinions on which range from 'that's business' to 'a sin just short of stepping on puppies'.
Re: damaged disks; I have had one disk arrived scratched, it skipped about nine seconds during one chapter. One disk arrived *shattered*, I didn't even put it in my player. One disk arrived, and was a movie I had never heard of, and one time something took 3+ weeks to get from NF to me. But that's all since 5/01, and overall, my opinion is rather positive.

Grandfathered in at 4/mo. I get my movies the day after I mail them back.
If you use mypoints they have a bonus for signing up with netflix.

What's the longest/shortest people have waited for something that says "VERY LONG WAIT"???? I want to get Raiders of the Lost Ark, but it's on a VLW list. I already got the 2 sequels, but I wanted to watch them in order again....oh well, looks like i'll re-arange my viewing I suppose....
