Picked up The Hulk last night...

I was able to find The Hulk nearly 2 weeks early last night, and for anyone who is interested, I'll post a few thoughts.

The picture and sounds quality are terrific, both very crisp and clear. I wasn't able to watch the entire movie last night, but I jumped around through various scenes, and all of them looked and sounded awesome.

The one thing that really pissed me off about the movie disc was the forced promos they tacked on to the beginning. I wasn't able to skip past them, but I could fast forward through them. Still, though, not a good thing to start doing Universal! And I know this will bug some people as well, but there was no insert! Now, it is possible that I got a copy that was missing one, so I won't jump to any conclusions on this.

Again, I wasn't able to get through all of the stuff on the second disc, but I did watch the making of section. It wasn't bad, but not great either. With all of the talking they did about how incredible the Hulk CGI was, I would have liked them to stop longer and show some of the breakdowns. The whole documentary seemed a little rushed, like they had more information out there, but they had to boil it down to essentials.

When I have more time, I'll check out more of the discs and post more, if anyone is interested.

Yes, in fact I am. I find those things as annoying as the commercials they put in front of movies in the theaters. I think it bugged me more because it was a promo for 2 Fast 2 Furious. I'm not that angry, because I was able to fast forward through it, I'm just saying it is a stupid thing for Universal to get in the habit of doing.

How's the commentary? I hope Ang Lee didn't do it by himself. James Schamus did a great job on the Crouching Tiger commentary.

Do you have dvd-rom, can you post screenshots from the dvd or from the main menus, like scene selection & language?

thanks,

Sorry, DVD-rom-yes, internet connection-no. If there is specific info you need from those menus, I can check for you.

As long as I can fast forward through the promos, I won't complain too much. (remember VHS folks? ). My problem is with companies like Universe (Hong Kong company) that make me sit through copyright warnings in English and Chinese, and I can do nothing to skip or fastforward through them.

Dang, JACOB, you are talking about that Hulk 3 disc set like nobody's business. I hope all this work you're doing talking about it will pay off at some point as a head of promotions/PR/getting this set released in the US.

Back OT, I can wait for this disc since I sent $3 and a few UPCs in for it. Thanks for the info, though.

I hope that with me promoting the 3 disc set.. that it will be released here in region 1.. I do however own a region free dvd player.. and I did hear that the hulk DVD deal for 3 bucks is indeed widescreen.

I'd like to voice my displeasure of the forced ads and say that I will not be purchasing the dvd for that reason alone. I'll wait till it comes on HD or something and record it with D-VHS. The forced promos really piss me off. I will be calling Universal again to let them know how I feel as I did after purchasing Babe. If for some reason they absolutely must do this crap, they could tack it on to when you hit play movie, so just going into chapter selections and hitting chapter one would skip it. Putting in the disc and seeing crappy looking non-anamorphic trailers that I have to fast forward through really stinks.

Even though this is off topic. With Universe DVDs, I have been able to skip the copyright warnings on my Sony DVP-N360 or whatever the model is along with my dvd-rom, by pressing stop, and then the play button, which will then just start the movie. Hope that helps.

good question bus.

I have seen the screenshots from www.dvdanswer, but not for the language and scene selection. I was curious how they were?
NO DTS or trailers?

Perhaps he only has internet access at work and not at home (where the dvd-rom probably is)?

That's correct.

Someone yesterday asked me about the commentary, whether it was James Schamus & Ang Lee or just Ang Lee. I checked last night and it is only Ang Lee on the commentary track. Sort of a bummer, but the bits that I listened to seemed fairly interesting.
