Dirty Dancing: Ultimate Edition vs. Collector's Edition

Anybody now the details as to what the differences are between the Dirty Dancing Ultimate and Collector's Editions? I've had trouble finding a consistant answer.

think the movie has been remaster and it is in 6.1 in stead of 5.1..
it is now a 2 disk set

the extras are also different.

me myself is also in a dilemna as to should i double dip

sigh

IsoArska 10-15-03 05:26 AM

In my humble opinion, you should only double dip with a nice lady.

kmac 10-15-03 08:42 AM

Hopefully, it is anamorphic. I want to buy it for my girlfriend for Christmas.

Kinyo 10-15-03 02:06 PM

I hope its anamorphic too.

ChrisHicks 10-15-03 03:52 PM

my wife loves this movie so I hope its a decent set.

island007 10-15-03 06:08 PM

Anamorphic will justify a double dip.

Otherwise, I'm keeping the old copy.

It IS anamorphic and you get some new features but you LOSE the concert

Artisan totally missed the boat here.
Not in terms of extras, but with what they called this new edition.

Instead of the boring "Ultimate Edtion",
It would have been sweet had it been called:

"The Extra Dirty Edition"

I'm not even considering single dipping... :)

DonnachaOne 10-15-03 09:03 PM

YES!!!! "She's like the wind" in DTS!!!!

F-ck. I bought the Region 2 single disc just two months ago... Now I have to buy this one, which comes out the same month as the new Alien box set which I have for pre-order, plus the Alias season 2 box set... and I don't even have a job...

Hope I win the lottery or something. :/

My Best Buy already had this available a couple weeks early. Located right next to the old one for $14.99.

I think I can live with the single-DVD edition I already have - (same commentary, and it includes the concert which runs well over an hour) - not worth the ugrade to me.

Yeah, we have a box of these sitting on a shelf in the back. I didn't put them out cuz the box clearly lists the street date as "12/9/03". Kinda strange that we got them 4 weeks in advance.

Is the concert just fluff or is it worthwhile?

I care.
I care alot.
This is my wife's favorite movie. So yes I care.
I care about the 6.1 sound.
I care about the anamorphic tranfer.
I care about the extras.
I care about the price.
I care about the release date.
And I care about thread crappers.

Libby 11-23-03 02:56 PM

Sorry about that. I didn't mean to :crap: . I should've mentioned I hate this movie because my sister watched it at least twice a day when we were younger and I had to sit through this because I was in a leg cast........not a fond memory. Ironically, My wife loves this movie and SHE will probably go and buy it. :yack:
