Anamorphic
Refers to a conventional widescreen process of film projection. With anamorphic lenses, the image is "squeezed" into standard 4:3 frame and then projected by another anamorphic lens in the widescreen format. If you have a standard television, you can see the anamorphic image by setting your DVD player's video output to 16x9 and playing a 16x9 enhanced disc. Source |
A question I have that I cant seem to find an answer to is..If I have my TV on 16x9 enhancement mode, and the DVD is 16x9 enhanced, do I need to set my DVD player's output to 16x9? I wouldnt ask this question in this forum, however the thread was started so I thought I would go ahead and ask.

Your DVD player should be left in 16:9 mode by default. If a disc isn't anamorphically-enhanced, the DVD player will know the difference and will output it properly anyway. You will just need to change the setting on your TV in that case. |
Yes, it works great. 16x9 on the DVD player and 16x9 enhancment on the TV ( I have it on my Wega), and it makes the pic increadiably sharp
