On what grounds does Paramount base this rule upon? Why 10 days and not twenty days?

I just went on my lunch break (aka the time from 3-4 when I knew they'd get it in stock). I'm going home right after work and watching Raiders and the extras. Temple and LC tomorrow

Anything to look for? Besides the reflection?

I'll notice any updated effects immediately.

I'm in the middle of Raiders...i'll post my thoughts later.

The layer break is when Indy throws the staff down into the map room...around 50 minutes.

but more importantly...

THE REFLECTION IS GONE. YOU NO LONGER SEE THE SNAKE.

Haven't seen any other changes. More to come...

Jeez, we been waiting for how many years for this?! Does another 2 weeks really make much of a difference?!?! Big deal, we been waiting since April of 1997 and you get it 2 weeks early, Oh - yeah, I see that would want to make a person gloat and brag and RUN to the store on their coffee break to pay an additional $10. I'd rather wait the additional 2 weeks and pay $10 LESS for it, maybe you're one of those guys who has money to burn, who knows?!

In a nutshell - who the f*** cares!

Whoa!!! Easy big fella . . . I think that the people who "f***"ing care would be the multiple people, over the last 3 pages of this thread, asking for information on the DVD. digitalfreak was just using his rare position as someone who actually owns the DVD's to share some of the information that people are curious about.

Why would you come to a forum that discusses DVD's if you don't want people to discuss DVD's?

I kinda agree with danwiz but nobody tell DavidH, ok?

I agree that holding off on reviews is dumb but how many people are really on the fence about this? I'm honestly curious. Are some people not going to get it if the snake reflection is still there or are the going to boycott the release because it's been touched up.

I don't care much for people who get their copies early and run in the brag but I do appreciate people who have it and answer questions about the set.

Sorry! I should have kept my mouth shut, just irritated me for some reason! The way he said:

sure sounds like gloating to me! Maybe if he would have just said "ha, ha, I'm gloating" then it would have been laughable?!?!

Anyway - sorry!

Good.

Then I assume you won't want to read my review of Raiders here:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=322531

But for those who do, i hope you enjoy it.

And fyi...i'm completely NOT gloating. If i could, I'd invite every talk member in the tri-state area over to watch them. i'm sure it would've been better than watching myself. I just absolutely love these movies and it is really surreal to know that they're finally here for me to own..on DVD.

If you ask that question, obviously haven't been following the Lion King threads. Sentiments like that have been flowing fairly freely due to two minor animation updates. Check this thread out.

Hmmm . . . you guys must have read it differently than I did . . . digitalfreak just seemed, to me, excited and wanting to share it with someone. Just wait until the first person on this forum manages to get an early version of Star Wars Eps. 4-6!

I thought he was excited and wanted to share also. I know I'd be.

Since this thread is all about a review of the trilogy and he seems to be one of the lucky ones to have it early, let the guy have some fun.

Wow...I STRONGLY disagree with digitalfreak's assessment of the extras - I thought the "Making The Trilogy" documentary was fantastic. In fact, I think it's the highlight of the entire boxed set.

It will be interesting to see others' reactions as they come in...

I've seen both "Great Movie Stunts: Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "The Making of Raiders of the Lost Ark", but haven't seen the documentaries for the other two films. I think the best stuff from those two documentaries is re-told in this new "Making the Trilogy" version (for example - the under the truck stunt where the stuntman goes underneath the truck and then Harrison is dragged from behind it). Basically what they've done with "Making the Trilogy" is still used the old footage from the set (much of which was shown in those original documentaries), but updated the interviews.

Once again, it will be interesting to see other's reactions. But if you liked what Lucas did with "The Beginning" documentary on PHANTOM MENACE, you're going to love what they've done here...in my opinion, of course.

Shannon,

I beg to differ.
VERY LITTLE of the footage from the other two documentaries was used in these new documentaries. That section had some of the same footage. But otherwise...no.

And I loved the Beginning. This doesn't even touch it. It's very shallow and barely touches on much. How could it? There are three movies and the documentary is only 2 hours. They didn't devote all that much time to the sequels either.

"Real" english subtitles are just plain subtitles.

Closed Caption subtitles includes text like: Music plays, a door closes, the car idles... and so on.

Well, you're forgetting that the other featurettes add up to almost an hour and are designed the same way the documenatry is...so there's almost three hours worth of documentary on the bonus DVD. I'm kind of wondering what else they could have possibly covered without boring the viewer - they seemed to touch on all the important parts of the making of each movie, from pre-production to shooting to stunts to stories from the set.

Well, we'll agree to disagree on this one. I stand by my opinon that the documentary is fantastic.

Again...it's not a great deal of time spent on each movie. Considering how many clips were used from the films as filler during the actual documentaries...

I would have hoped for 2 hour documentaries on EACH movie. They deserve it. But again...wishful thinking. And again, i'm coming from the POV of someone who has seen the other Making Of specials probably about 50 times each. I used to watch them all the time when I was younger.

There's just a lot more to expect. For the casual viewer who doesn't know much about the making of the films, I think they're fine.
