Yet another artisan dissapointment

I picked up waxwork today. It is a double feature fullscreen. Correct me if I am wrong, but was not this originally released in theatres? It also has a mono sound which I can tolerate. It amazes me how many of my artisan releases are fullscreen.

Suppose I should be happy to have waxworks on dvd after a long wait.

Both are suppose to be 1.33:1 (Direct To Video)
The big question ws Waxwork Uncut?

Romero 09-24-03 05:24 PM

They are both rated R.

I just noticed on the back that it says this film has been formatted to fit your screen.

Artisan leaves that notice on made-for-TV films, too, so it's often meaningless or just misleading.

There's a review and discussion over at HTF. The first film IS uncut. The rating and running time on the case are wrong.

Untrue. Waxwork was a theatrical release.

Bang up job on these double features Artisan! P&S, crap transfer and edited-for-tv audio tracks (Prom Night III)as well as partial edited-for-tv audio on Waxwork II. At least they got the shape of the disk right.

All the transfers are open matte. The only one's that should have been matted are WAXWORK and WATCHERS. The rest are open matte without anything being cut.

Actually according to horrordvds.com Waxwork's OAR is 1.33:1 here is a review they did of the R2 Dragon DVD

But where did they get that info from? Dragon and Artisan. Dave Anderson, who wrote the review, said in a post at HTF:

"As for the aspect ratio, I simply went by the information I got from Artisan and Dragon. They both claim 1.33:1 is the OAR. Does that mean it's true? No, but it's the best I could do."

Not particularly reliable or definitive.

It would have been nice if Artisan would atleast take the time to get the back of the box right. It would cut out alot of this confusion.
