Shrek single disc edition Full Screen only...
I visited Targ*t last weekend and saw the new single disc Shrek, which is Full Screen only! I immediately searched the children's video section for the original two disc Widescreen copy and found it!
I've been procrastinating with regard to this title; now I own it. What's up? Is the studio discontinuing the Widescreen inclusive two disc set? I hope not. |

Thanks for the link...
However, I believe it is important to emphasize the fact that this disc is Full Screen! The previous post simply starts as a release announcement.

Sometimes I'm the last to know. :(
Thank you for being polite.

[resurrecting the 'ol Katzenburg v. Disney drama]
hmm...yet Disney has recently been attempting to eduate the commonfolk about the differences 'tween w i d e s c r e e n and fool frame.. and putting out some damn good DVDs too.. wonder if this'll be incorporated into Shrek II.. [/resurrecting the 'ol Katzenburg v. Disney drama] |
What do you miss in the full screen Shrek? A fart?
|
Another bad thing is that the DTS soundtrack and the worthwhile extras in the set like the commentary were on the disc with the widescreen version -disc 2. (I'm assuming this is just a repackaging of the first disc.)
|
You're probably right.
Dreamworks used to be so dependable with extras and OAR.
|
One more thing...
Does anyone know if a Dreamworks representative (or any other rep for that matter) frequents these boards regularly?
|
Discontinue the 2disc. Better news for me. If you don't have the old version already, than this new version is perfect for you.
|
Dreamworks hasn't discontued the 2-Disc - it, like the Gladiator and Minority Report packages, are still available in 1-disc or 2-disc versions. A lot of retailers simply choose to stock the cheaper single-discers.

I wonder if this wasn't just a mistake.
All of the other one-disc versions of Dreamworks' and other studios' two-disc titles repackaged the first disc out of the two. Maybe whoever made the decision to do that for all of the titles they were reissuing as one-disc versions didn't realize that Shrek was unlike the others in that it had a different transfer on each disc, instead of only extras on the second disc. If they did realize that, maybe they just assumed the first disc had the widescreen version which it should have had anyway. |
