Question about movies that are censored on DVD - any links?

I was considering checking out a few blow-out sales at local pawn shops and stores, but I don't want to end up buying a film that's been butchered for its DVD release. Is there a site that has a list of edited films?

http://www.dvdfile.com/software/cut_list/index.html

Note: It's not a complete list, and it hasn't been updated in about a year.

The Big Blue will be getting the deluxe DVD treatment, complete with the director's cut. Release is planned for sometime in 2000...
Yeah... wont be getting updated in a long while...

Interesting list, but I think it's a bit misleading. For the most part, the films listed are mentioned for their 'padded' TV versions. They weren't edited from the theatrical version. They are only listing scenes that were added later to the original theatrical version, but nothing was edited from the actual theatrical version.

Having said that, the only example I saw on the list that rang true was "Revenge Of The Nerds". The edited scene still bugs me today (having seen the film in the theater), as the original scene plays much better.

Inserting scenes for TV is "editing from the theatrical version". Editing does not mean removing.
Granted sometimes added scenes make the movie better (Abyss) but it'd still be nice to have the original (A New Hope) on the disc.

I know this thread isn't for listing movies like this, but I do want to say that The Santa Clause was edited by Disney... They removed the scene where Scott Calvin gets a phone number from his ex-wife, and says "1-800-spank-me??? I know that number!" This scene was present on the laserdisc (and presumably the original videotape.)
