Disney includes Widescreen and Full Screen comparison on...
 

The new Disney release of Sleeping Beauty has an insert, but, more importantly, it includes a comparison of Widescreen vs. Full Screen on both the insert and the second DVD! What do you think of that?

Also, when you pick to start the movie, it clearly shows the difference between widescreen and fullscreen. They have done this before, specifically with Mulan but I'm sure they have done it on other titles. Quite sad actually.... Because they educate people this way and then release some of my favorite titles in MAR rubbish.

Since Disney has reissued The Absent-Minded Professor, The Apple Dumpling Gang and the Witch Mountain films in OAR I don't see much room for complaining. Yeah for Disney!

and no foolscreen pirates. Maybe disney is listening (well miramax and Harvey aren't since they are still distroying asain films in the usa)

Monsters, Inc. showed the difference when you selected which one you wanted. Cheers to them for doing this.

I figured Sleeping Beauty was old enough that the OAR was 1.33:1. Glad to see they're trying to educate J6P

Jim, SLEEPING BEAUTY was a 1959 release, during the pinnacle of the popularity of grand Cinemascope epics...

Good job Disney, now if they would only start including chapter lists again.

Disney often puts out some of the best DVDs of any studio and I applaud them for attempting to educate their customers on widescreen vs. fullscreen. However, I can still find room for complaining: Return to Snowy River. This was filmed in 2.35:1 and I just can't imagine why they would think it okay to release it as a pan'n'scan hack job.

Yeah they did the comparison on the insert of Treasure Planet as well.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not bashing Disney [and I agree with your props for attempting to edumacate the masses]..

Also on Beauty and the Beast. Count me in as one who's happy they're doing. Maybe the younger tykes are starting to notice...

Does anyone know of any other studios that are putting this much effort into presenting the difference on inserts/discs? BTW, I would like a list so I can personally thank them.

I'm sure no good deed will go unpunished. I'm glad they are in OAR.

White Fang isn't in OAR and that doesn't exactly please me. There is room for improvement/correction if we give them the input. Right?

I thought it was interesting that Disney is trying to incorporate English - Widescreen as an official language (as well as English - Fullscreeen) by including the viewing option in the language sub-menu. I've been encouraging fluency in widescreen for years. It's good to see the Mouse step up their efforts in this area. Now if only Snow Dogs had been originally released with a widescreen version.......
