Where can I buy EZ-Dvds?

I am talking about the new disposable dvds that play for 0nly 48 hours from the time you open them. Where will they be available? I would like to try them to see what they are really about.

48 hours is long enough to rip it. Bring them on!

I got a better idea. You give me $5, and then I light it on fire and we flush the money down the drain.

How's that?

I thought I'd have alook to see if they were inferior, see how they would work with my own eys, but I can't find them either... maybe they gave up on what they realised we'd never, ever, not in a million years, go for.

I realize I just said I wanted to see one for research purposes, but that's spliting hairs.

Ugh. You're just encouraging the studios to think that this is a good idea.

Well, at least you get a coaster after you watch the movie.

I'd like to know how they handle quality control on these. Also, how are you going to prove (or disprove) if I take a used one back saying that it never worked to begin with.

Didn't Circuit City have something like this a few years back? Wasn't it a total failure?

That was DivX, which were cheap discs that you had to get a code for everytime you wanted to play it. Wasn't just Circuit City and OH MY GOD, was it a failure...

Re: Where can I buy EZ-Dvds?

You can buy them from me just as soon as I'm done with them. I'll ship 'em to you in a couple of days.

a prepaid envelope is included and you mail the dead disc to be recycled. but as a site said (possibly DavisDVD although i can't recall for sure) if a person is too lazy to return a rented disc then why should anyone assume they'll go to the trouble of recycling it.

this is such a piss poor invention and even though some are curious as to the quality i would strongly discourage the purchase of these discs. a sale is a sale and the more they sell the more they'll think its being embraced. as a Natural Resources and Environmental Management student i can appreciate how these discs are wasteful on so many levels.

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.

Good grief, I wish they would get called in front of some congressional environment committee for this silliness.

The sick thing is that my girlfriend actually likes the idea. I had to shut my mouth the other night when we were out to dinner. I was about to call her an idiot.

Thanks for the clarification on the mailer, WestEndRiot. I agree. People who will buy these will not bother to mail them back. Truly inane.

Yeah! why pay postage when you already paid $5 for the disc?

At least Netflix let you mail back discs postage paid.

There goes another dollar per disc, might as well use it on the 99 cent Blockuster rental!

So they are literally seeing if it'll play in Peoria.

Guess again. At least according to the tagline on their website:

"Buy a Full Length Movie for Less Than $7"

And, of course, this tagline follows the profoundly ironic

"Never Pay Late Fees Again!"

line. With an apparent MSRP of $6.99, shouldn't it read

"Pay a Built-in Late Fee Every Time!"

And what's with the "buy" garbage? You aren't "buying" anything more than you do when you visit Blockbuster.

From this site, after clicking on the "recycling" button:

Participate in our upcoming incentive program. Start saving your discs now and upon sending in six expired EZ-Dô discs, you will become eligible to receive one free EZ-Dô. More details coming soon.
I think saving up a few EZ-Ds should get you a couple of free, regular DVDs instead of another EZ-D.

And the price of a EZ-D? I think I will waste my money at Wal-mart's $5.88 bin instead.

I foresee a future argument:

"Well, maybe I did cheat on you, but at least I don't like EZ-DVDs!!!!"
