2019: After The Fall Of New York -- different editions?

OK, so 2019: After The Fall Of New York was released about 6 months ago with a commentary track that became a bit controversial (one of the moderators bascially started randomly badmouthing a lot of individuals -- many of whom had NOTHING to do with the film, much to the dismay of the other participants.)

So, Media Blasters removed it and re-released the disc without the commentary.

My question is simple -- how can you tell which version is which without opening the package?

I have two that are nearly identical -- one lists 'interviews' as a special feature. The other replaces that with 'featurette'. But neither edition mentions a commentary on the back cover at all.

I did a search here, on other DVD sites, on Google, and... nothing. Does anyone have the scoop?

thanks for bringing this up. I never did snag this, but read about the commentary problem. would love to have that...should have pre-ordered it right away. hope someone chimes in with info, although I must get this finally.

contact MB yet?

I bought this one the day it was initially released, so I probably (hopefully) have the one with the commentary (I haven't opened it yet).

It lists a featurette on the back, but no interviews - so maybe the "featurette" version has the commentary. I'll have to check it out this weekend.

Well, based on Roy28's info (and the fact that I was finding the 'interview' cover to be much more common)... I can now answer my own question.

I opened up the edition that says "Featurette" last night and can confirm that this is the one that has the commentary track. The back cover looks like this:

The newer edition without the commentary replaces the Featurette entry on the back cover with the word "Interviews" (and includes a list of participants).

All the fuss over very little.......

There was nothing said in the commentary that should have gotten anyone so upset.

OK, give...what did he say that was so controversial?

The short story is explained in my first post... one of the moderators just starts randomly insulting a bunch of people (Tim Lucas, and others) for no reason other than to be a self-important dick. The company releasing the DVD was less than pleased.

The longer story is here: http://www.mhvf.net/forum/euro/posts/38128.html

At some point the commentators just started slagging random people in the "fandom community". It's impossible to listen to the whole commentary anyway, since it's just a couple of spastic geeks doing a Beavis & Butthead routine while the actor in the film sits there trying to ignore them. They actually keep interrupting the actor's stories to talk about how "gay" certain websites and DVD companies are. I think the "controversy" was over the fact that legally you probably can't use a DVD commentary to just reel off names of your friends and enemies and talk smack about them. I'd imagine that the DVD company would be held responsible for libel or something.

[EDIT]: I guess we posted at the same time. Oh, well. By the way, there isn't actually any "featurette" on this disc.

insulting Tim Lucas? now thats dumb.
