Is There Solid Proof of the Alien Quadrilogy Coming in 2003?
I was wondering this, because I haven't seen a press release on this yet. I'm also wondering this because of the theatrical re-release of Alien on Halloween...why would they release this in theaters a week before the boxed set comes out? I don't think it's coming out this year anymore...
|
I heard about the re-release as well. I would imagine taht it would have to be pushed back for that. Does anybody have this available for preoreder?
|
DVDSoon does.
Also, I reccommend checking out a thread at HTF that has a lot of new info on the Quadrilogy and indicates it is most likely coming December 2003. It's along thread, 11 or 12 pages, but has some incomplete specs from very reliable sources. |
Thanks

Don't DVD Soon charge on order placement? How can they do that for this release if not even confirmed yet??
|
I so can't wait for the release. Alien 3 restored extended version. Excellent!!!!!!
|
Another question is should i freaking sell my existing Alien Legacy set now?
|
I wonder if it will come out... I went to the theatres today and saw a cool ALIEN DIRECTORS CUT poster that was something like #2800 of 5000 or something saying it was coming back to theatres soon. I wonder if this will delay any release...?

12/11 seems to be the target date for the set to come out. I am pretty sure we will hear something from fox by friday with an official annoncement.

Yeah, was reading the HTF thread. I hope that Fox includes both versions of Alien. The Director's cut looks awesome, but I want the original one also. Same goes for Alien 3 and Resur. I know Aliens will have both cuts.

Will Alien be able to be purchased separately?

Here's some more proof...
The folks over at www.digitalbits.com are writing a DVD book. One of the chapters chronicles the re-issue of the Alien films: Part III - Inside the Alien Quadrilogy We take a look at the hard work involved in putting together a great DVD special edition. Our friends at Twentieth Century Fox have allowed us to go behind-the-scenes on the making of their forthcoming, 9-disc Alien Quadrilogy special edition box set. We've done an extensive, in-depth interview with DVD producer Charles de Lauzirika, in which you'll learn about the process of producing, the exciting and never-before-seen extras included on the set, the participation of the actors, directors and other talent, and the creation of new special edition versions of the films. You'll also learn about the effort to reconstruct the original cut of Alien³, and the new special effects work that was required to finish deleted scenes for Alien, Alien³ and Alien: Resurrection. And that's just for starters. We also interview Alien director Ridley Scott, reveal interesting production facts and stats, take you behind-the-scenes on a typical audio commentary session with cast members and more. This section also features all-new, behind-the-scenes photos of the work and those involved. |
man, this set is going to RULE. I know some purists like to have a pure/plain theatrical cut of a film they enjoy, but for movies I really like, i love it when they reincorporate footage back into the film and/or reedit it to the director's liking. This is doubly true when the studio goes to a lot of effort to make the footage look good, which 20th CF seems to be doing with the new special effects shots etc. The day this comes out, Im gonna be going :hump:

I'm torn on what to do. I hate to sell my Aliens set with the extra disc and then find out that the new set wont have the same extra's.

theatrical re-release of Alien on Halloween |
I saw the same "Coming Soon" movie poster for Alien at my local Regal theater here in SoCal.
|
I'm pretty sure Alien is getting some 2000-1500 screens, so I don't think it's really considered "limited"
