Just bought some bargain bin titles; were they worth it?

I just bought from Walmart

$5.88:
Beatles Unathorized/ Fun with the fab four
The day reagan was shot
The best of times
The longshot/ They went that-a-way & that-a-way (double feature

$9.44:
As good as it gets
Ghostbusters

Were these titles worth it? I still havent opened all of them, so please do tell me. Have you seen them? Good deal, good movie? Thanks.

I'd pass on all of them. does that help? didnt think so.:D

wordtoyamotha 08-28-03 08:00 PM

I'd put Ghostbusters right up there with Requiem For A Dream: Director's Cut for "best value" dvd. They are both packed to the gills with extra content, and good movies to boot.

Ghostbusters and As good as it gets are good. The Beatles one could be good too but I haven't heard of it or any of the other ones.

TopHatCat64 08-28-03 09:17 PM

Ghostbusters is great, dunno bout the others tho.

BizRodian 08-28-03 09:28 PM

Those el cheapo 5.88 DVDs made by only god knows who make baby Jesus cry.

Best Of Times is fantastic...too bad not anamorphic or I would have it.

Longshot is funny. Decnt horseracing/gambling movie.

tasha99 08-28-03 10:17 PM

As Good as it Gets is a very good movie that could have been great. Ghostbusters is good too and has a lot of rewatch value (like most comedies.) Can't say anything about the others.

Fun with the Fab 4 is an acceptable buy if you are enough of a fan. It was orginally out on VHS and the quality is not much better on the DVD. There's no music on there anyway but it does have some good clips including a very funny sketch they did for some BBC show that you can't get any other way.

Jackskeleton 08-29-03 10:11 AM

Hey, as long as you like the film they were worth it. Do you really need someone else to justify your purchase? ;)

Ok - those other films I could understand not seeing - especially the 5 buck ones. But *HOW* in gods name can you not know if Ghostbusters is good? What - you've never SEEN Ghostbusters?!?

Bah! Kids these days.

I suspect you'll find yourself wanting to get rid of some of those $5.88 cheapies when your storage space starts filling up, and many new releases are annouced by studios.

myrdh 08-29-03 10:32 AM

You must have bought all of them for a reason (besides it being cheapo) so keep them all.

$5.88 is like a rental fee nowaday so keep them and enjoy them.

I've never really understood this....YOU just BOUGHT some DVDs and you'd like to know if WE think they're worth it? I don't know, were they? As far as I'm concerned, there's only one person that can tell me if spending my money on something was worth it....ME.

If I were in your shoes, I might have picked up As good as it gets and Ghostbusters too!
