Kubrick's version.

Interesting sidenote - I recently reread "Danse Macabre," and in the appendix, Stephen King lists The Shining as one of his favorite movies. Just because he was upset that it wasn't his vision doesn't mean he didn't like it, apparently.

It's "by far" superior because the extra 25 minutes detracts from the movie? I always like more rather than less if a movie is good.
