Sports Night DVD Boxed Set
I love this show. Will forever be a fan. I am looking once again at shelling out the dough for the boxed set. I thought I remember reading back when it came out that the episodes were the cutdown ones that reran on Comedy Central. Does anyone know about this? Thanks.

How were the episodes cutdown on Comedy Central, exactly?

Never heard that at all. Great set.... Pick it up...
Each episode runs about 22 - 23 minutes which is the standard length of episodic television these days. |
I have the set and don't remember anything about the episodes being cut. Great show, great box set.
|
Were they cut down or cut differently? I think I remember them not cutting where a commercial should've been sometimes, or vice versa. I don't remember anything missing from the episodes when I watched them.
|
Although I have not seen every episode that came out for Sports Night, I can say that the ones I have seen are NOT cut.
If you want to make a case for scenes cut, you'd have to buy Mr Bean: The Complete Bean and that's an issue in itself. |
It's all there ...every wonderful minute of it.

One of the best DVD purchases I've ever made (in terms of re-watch value). Those episodes get a ton of airplay in my home. :)
(And, as everyone else is saying... I saw no evidence of cuts/edits. Nor do I even remember this being a rumor when the set was released.) |
Fair warning, the laugh tracks on the first several episodes are still there, but are nowhere near bad enough to not get this set. I was lucky to find this used a while back for a good price.

This is an absolutely great set! I don't watch much TV, and never saw Sports Night on the air, but when it got released and I found out that it was Aaron Sorkin writing the show, I blind bought and I will say that it has been the highlight of my DVD watching summer.

Hands down, the most rewatched part of my collection. Been through the entire series at least 3 times (so far).
JUST GET IT. |
Great series. Great DVDs.
I do hate the laugh tracks. Was very surprised they survived. Zero extras. We want Audio Commentary with Aaron Sorkin like on the upcoming West Wing disks. |
I was doing a crossword puzzle last night at dinner. I came to the following:
DOWN 1 With 88 down, a violinist Yep, it was Yehudi Menuhin. When I realized it was going to work out that way, I nearly choked I was laughing so hard. Ah, Sports Night, I love thee. |

Sports Night was a great show, but the box set leaves much to be desired. Buena Vista included NO extras: no outtakes, commentaries, documentaries, nothing. It's still an essential purchase, but the DVDs could and should have been much better.
