Apple Dumpling Gang (priced higher than the others) comes out on Sept 2 also, but of the places I've looked I didn't see any extras listed for any of them.

I saw that was also coming out but I think of that as a different phase of his film career. The others used several people from the Andy Griffith Show-both actors and writers/directors.

I'm not expecting anything more than a (possible) trailer. They are $14.95 retail, so I don't think there will be much on the discs. I'm just overjoyed that they are OAR! After MGM put out "The Longshot/They Went That-A-Way & That-A-Way" DVD out in P&S, and Disney released several of their classic films in PS ("Computer Wore Tennis Shoes," "Moonspinners," and "Absent Minded Prof." come to mind. I think the last one is getting a LBX treatment next month. Haven't heard about the others.) I was afraid that other "kids" movies would be released in P&S too.

to Universal!

I cannot wait for these DVD's.

I'm actually more excited about these discs than I am about the Indy box set.

There, I said it...

I believe these 2 were fullscreen/open matte presentation, not P & S presentation. There is a difference.

Hey, i'm nuts for Knotts too! i'm w/ videophile, i'm just happy that they're being released OAR - a commentary/intro by Mr. Knotts would've been great though. Hopefully Paul Champagne has a Knotts Box in the works....

Wow, this is great. I feel like I found a Don Knotts support group. I no longer have to hide how excited I am about these discs! I bought his autobiography on a bargain table for $2, and read all about these flicks just a few weeks ago. I haven't seen most of them since I was a kid.

I am a Don Knotts addict. There is no help.

A few years back I bought all of the paper from those movies. One sheet, insert, half-sheet, pressbook, lobby card set, 8X10 set, etc.

Yes, they're corny, but a part of my childhood.

What I liked most about his autobiography was that it was clearly written by him. It was very straightforward, like you could hear his voice saying it.

The wisdom of Don Knotts: "The first time you see yourself on the screen, you just want to throw up or something."

You could be right. I should have said "not OAR." I assumed that they were P&S because the back of one of them said "Formatted to fit your screen" which I took to mean scanned. In any case, it's easy enough to put them out in OAR, and that's what I wish they would do, even if they were shot open matte.

I found it impossible not to get all five.
