G.I. Joe season 1 news: coming in Oct!

According to Quick Kick Theater . . . .

Per Joe Glover (AKA Flint wo2) via Sgt. Recondo: "Joe talked to a Kid Rhino rep [at Wizard World Chicago] and got 'absolute confirmation' that the season #1 G.I.Joe 'toons will come out in 2 parts. The first half of season #1 (about 27 episodes or so) will be out in late October and will cost about $59. The second half of season #1 (again, about 27 episodes or whatever) will be out in January 2004 and will also cost about $59. Then, Rhino plans on having season #2 available in late summer 2004 - especially if the season #1 sets sell well. There is a possibility of a promotional 'extra' being sold with the DVD sets, such as a figure or whatever. The 'extra' is all unconfirmed though."
If season 1 sells well. . . . right. Like they wont.

I'll just complain about the price. That seems a little steep for me, but maybe 27 episodes for $59 is a good deal.

That seems to be Rhino's new bag, squeeze out 2 releases of a season instead of one.

Also, is anyone else really bothered by the packaging on the Transformers series...personally I think it's ugly and unimaginative.

60 bucks seems steep at first glance, but if Transformers is any indication the sets will show up in stores for about 35 bucks. The most expensive Transformers S2 set is 44 bucks online, so I dont see why Joe would be any more.

You forgot the most relevant one:

I hope they don't f**k with the soundtrack too much like they usually do.

As for the price, it's the ultimate niche market. Aside from the occasional drip and drab that got through latenight on Cartoon Network, this thing has been out of circulation for 15 years or so. Even the VHS were incomplete and hard to come by at times, so they know us Joe heads will be all over this. Interesting thing could be developing though, however. I've read folks on a few boards, from a few friends, and my own personal experience in showing the show to my 7 nieces and nephews, they couldn't get enough of the miniseries release, so there may be some sort of a Joe revoltion in the next generation that Rhino wasn't planning on here. I mean, there really is no compare to the poor crap these kids watch today. Animation wise, perhaps, as the G.I. Joe visually isn't quite as stunning as I recall. But the reason Transformers and G.I. Joe are remember so fondly, and their toys are so beloved too, is because of the storytelling. I think that's what this next generation is taking from the show as much as anything, and it's crazy to see a 5 year old in 2003 yelling "YO JOE!"

Well I can't keep up with ALL the complaints on this forum, that'd take at least 2 super-computers.

Hmm.. it comes out to about $2.23 an episode, and I'm pretty sure, since you are a member of this community that you end up paying retail price for it.. a $40 price tag would seem resonable at Best Buy or something..

If they don't replace the guns with walkie talkies, my (unborn) children will never be allowed to watch this.

Doubt I buy it. I barely made it through the previous release and I already have all the old ones on VCD and I never watch 'em.

I just want more Transformers!
