your guilty pleasures?

do you have a dvd that you really like watching but everyone else seems to bag on here at dvdtalk or elsewhere? I find myself sometimes really liking a movie that most other people think stinks sometimes. Here are a few of mine...

Saving Silverman
Rocky 4
I know what you did last summer / ISKWYDLS
Iron Eagle
Tomb Raider
the Postman

those are all I can think of off the top of my head.. how about you guys/girls?

I've got a lot of those:

Anti-trust
Batman & Robin
Clockstoppers
Dude, Where's My Car?
Exit to Eden
Flowers in the Attic

...just to name a few.
I probably have plenty from the rest of the alphabet too. :D

yeah, it also bombed in theaters and lots of peeps bash it. The r-rated version is even better (how could it not be with the hooker chicks going topless in it?!!?!).

Not Anothe Teen Movie. No plot, but hilarious nonetheless.

SCHMEGGA 08-05-03 03:03 PM

Thomas Crown Affair (Brosnan)-I know I know.

dude_dan 08-05-03 03:17 PM

Twins.

I keep getting grief from a co-worker (who truly enjoys movies), but loves to bash the fact that I love this flick.

I have tons of films/dvds that others dont like...but sure as hell feel no guilt. you either like them...or you dont. everything stinks to someone...but I really dont care.

Robert 08-05-03 03:33 PM

3000 Miles to Graceland - Great action, snappy dialogue, and Kevin Costner is the very definition of a genuine badass

The Last Boyscout - hilarious and often tasteless dialogue by Shane Black keep this one afloat.

Duodenum 08-05-03 03:36 PM

i am a HUGE fan of action cheese. without further ado:

Anaconda (the wink, nuff said)
Commando
Surviving The Game (Busey in mania mode)
Out For Justice
Ricochet (best hambone villain ever?)
Showdown In Little Tokyo (funniest final death evar)

Half Baked
Multiplicity
Road Trip
Slackers
Black Sheep
Tommy Boy

I dont want to be known as a pooper so yes I'll play. tough call...but since the critics and so many others here hate it...I'll say I Spit On Your Grave and *gulp*.....Roadhouse.

Joe Dirt and
Monkeybone

..are the biggest two. I thought both films (particularly Joe Dirt) were hilarious. Christopher Walken's character in Joe Dirt may be one of my most quoted characters of all time...

"Does your mother sew?"

Wow, as someone stated above, I feel NO guilt about it but these are some in alphabetical order. Although some may not fall under the "guilty pleasure" label.

Anti-trust
Art of War
Captain Corelli's Mandonlin
Count of Monte Cristo
Hard Rain
A Knights Tale
Lara Croft:Tomb Raider
Mannequin
Miss Congeniality
Saving Silverman
Serendipity
Titanic
Wild Wild West
xXx

tboogie 08-05-03 04:26 PM

Flashdance (what a feeling, dammit)
Hannibal (it's a cultural experience for me--I'm nuts)
Earth Girls Are Easy (this might be Jim Carrey's first movie)
Desperately Seeking Susan
Two Moon Junction
xXx (one word: Vin)

theman1971 08-05-03 04:37 PM

For me, it's National Lampoon's Vacation. Got it on VHS, LD, and DVD. :D

Wife hates it when I put it in, but I get entertained by it every time!

Azrael23 08-05-03 04:39 PM

Hmm, let's see

xXx
Tombraider
American Pie / American Pie 2
Exit Wounds
Dude, where's my car
Scary Movie / Scary Movie 2
Not another Teen Movie

I'm sure there are more in my collection though

FuzzyBallz 08-05-03 04:42 PM

I don't see why it has to be guilty pleasure. Just because a lot of people are closet girls gone wild fans while saying how they only watch monty python doesn't make them any less "manly". Anyway a few of my favs are -

Meet Joe Black
Serendipity
Crime + Punishment in Suburbia
She's All That (as in She's damn hot)
Bring It On
and lets not forget Ecks Vs. Severe

Regurgitator 08-05-03 04:43 PM

KUNG POW!

It's so cheesy and bad that it's one of the best hilarious movie ever.

FuzzyBallz 08-05-03 04:45 PM

Kung Pow! LOL, yeah, that movie's so stupid, it's funny. Uniboob anyone?

Dsilva71 08-05-03 04:51 PM

American Pie 1 & 2 (now 3)
Sugar and Spice
Bring it on
Shes all that
Blame it on Rio
Vacation (Org, European and Vegas)
Billy Madison
Disclosure
Outbreak

wordtoyamotha 08-05-03 05:17 PM

I'm a sucker for parody style comedies. I have:

The Naked Gun Trilogy
UHF
Not Another Teen Movie
Airplane!
Kentucky Fried Movie

...and many more.

BTW, Rocky IV is a great movie
