Any Scarface Deluxe Gift Set Reviews?

Man, this set looks sweet!

Heres link BTW:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...v=glance&s=dvd

I hope the 1983 will be much better quality than the first Universal "Collector's Edition" Release...Whats sweet about this set is you get a TONY MONTANA MONEY CLIP and Lobby Cards along with a nice looking box (the box he sniffs crack out of in the movie?) and the original 1932 classic! But aside from that...I don't know much about this. Will the 1983 be 2 disc? Can someone hook me up with reviews for this...thanks.

The disc is still over 7 weeks away from release, so don't count on any reviews for it yet. Maybe towards the end of the month.

Availability: This item will be released on September 30, 2003. You may order it now and we will ship it to you when it arrives.

Dagger...just caught that...when the heck did they delay it? Was waiting for this to come out September 9th. Yea Money Clip and "Rare" Lobby Cads, price is pretty expensive @ 59.99 but must have for a die hard Scarface fan.

I am looking forward to this because I hear it's a new transfer and the older version that is around looks grainly on a big tv. sorta a big let down. because I love this movie, this new transfer will be 16.9 wide anamorphic, the older not so special edition is just the same old transfer they used to make the laser disc edition.

plus they are cleaning up the audio sound to 5.1.

can't wait to see it or read the review here.

This is a pretty good set. Toss in STL with free shipping, and the price is right for me!

and DTS! Hopefully the "extras" are like 5 min featurettes so they won't take too much space.

Isn't Universal refusing to give earlier DVD review discs? I thought I heard something about this.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were stingy like that. Didn't they have that same policy with E.T.? Maybe for their big marquee releases they want to keep a tight lip about the disc.

Confusion reigns as ever with this Universal title.

- Is it a 2-disc set? It's a 170-minute film with DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1, documentaries, etc.

- Will the original be made available seperately at a later date?

No commentary, no deleted scenes and no documentary of the actual film. I believe the documentaries will be about rap. Interviews with Pacino, Pfieffer and co. would be been a better step. Might stick with my R2 anamorphic copy, especially with the deleted scenes.
