WB finally dropping the snapper case?

Well not quite. From dvdfile.com:

Guess who's finally getting hip to the keepcase? Long a point of contention even among the most ardent of DVD supporters, Warner Home Video has favored the slim cardboard "snapper case" created and produced by AOL Time Warner subsidiary Ivy Hill. Roundly scorned for its flimsy appearance and lack of durability, Warner has decided to take the keepcase plunge on October 14th with the release of The Matrix Reloaded.

Fans hoping for a sea change at the studio may be disappointed, however. "We evaluate each product and its packaging configurations," a Warner spokesperson told Video Store Magazine. "For Reloaded, we felt the Amaray was the right packaging. There is no overall change in our packaging strategy. Future titles may be packaged in a digipak. We'll evaluate on a title-by-title basis."

But will the likely smash success of Reloaded on DVD help push Warner to reconsider the long-term viability of the snapper? Watch this space...

Been hearing about this for years and no change, I will continue to buy WB DVDs with snapper or not.

Technically, however, Warner has used Amarays before. Their "BBC Video" product line pretty much exclusively uses Amarays, for example.

The only reason their BBC line of DVDs are in Amarays is that Warner is only the distributor for those discs. Anything owned and published by Warner goes in a Snapper. Hopefully they'll change their mind after the Matrix release.

They're dropping it in Region 2/UK:

A sign of things to come for R1? I sure hope so...

On the digital file they are reporting that T3 will be in an keep case. Sweet, one less to convert.

I have not been buying any WB DVDs new because of the snappers. I buy them used at HV in a keepcase with the artwork.

OOPS, that is supposed to be the DVD file.

And Digipacks are 100% perfectly fine with me. They look great, and are all about art. While I admit that they don't look uniform next to my other Amaray's.....I'll take a Digipack any day over a snapper.
