How do you calculate price for mailorders?

When you calculate your DVD price for mail-orders do you include the price of shipping in the price of the DVD, for example, when you enter the price into your DVD Profiler database? I always do that, I mean, it's money that I have to pay from my hard earned income, and it can't be attributed to anything else beside the price of the DVD's as far as I am concerned.

So, when I order from online retailers I always take the total shipping cost and divide it by the number of DVDs I order, and then add that figure to the price of each DVD in my Excel spreadsheet.

Just wondering is anybody else bothers to account for this cost.

I don't; when I put the price in DVDTracker, I never include shipping or sales tax.

Anything that makes it seem like I'm spending less on DVDs..

Seriously, it's because I didn't start keeping track of what I paid for my DVDs until I'd been collecting for a couple of years. I was able to remember how much I'd paid for most of them (estimated the rest), but I had no idea how much I paid for shipping, so I decided not to include it. Now, I just leave it off to be consistent.

If I pay tax or shipping, I always count it in the price when I enter it into DVD Profiler.

Anything else, I'm just deluding myself.

I've noticed some people here will compare the prices at two vendors (such as DVD Planet and DDD) and not include the shipping cost in their comparison.

I always include tax and/or shipping. It's all money out of my pocket, so I include it and want to know how much it was.

I always figure the "delivered" price. If shipping & tax is charged, then it is added.
Except for Columbia House, I usually pay neither shipping nor tax.

If I kept track of how much I spend on DVDs, my wife would leave me.

I add shipping and tax to the price I paid. If you don't you are not keeping track of any meaningful numbers.

I usually divide shipping between the # of DVDs in the order, but sometimes I play a little fast and loose. If I get a REALLY good deal on one DVD and buy a couple more while I'm at it, I may include the entire shipping price with the cheap disc so that the other two appear to be better deals. But in every case I make sure that the money I spent equals the total amount I enter into DVDProfiler. That way I can silently scream everytime I look at the total.

I seem to go against the rest of you. I don't count tax and shipping when I put the DVD value into my database. Neither apply to the cost of the disc, and if I ever lose my collection, I won't have an artificially inflated amount attached to each title for insurance purposes.

My wife has made me promise her I'll never tell her the total that DVD Profiler spits out.
Or the amount I've spent on action figures and other collectable items. I think it's best for our future together.
