Italian Job (1969) - Full Details & Artwork
You can find full details regarding the October 21st release of The Italian Job (1969) here. We have large shots of the front and back covers, as well as the inlay card.
It looks as if the set content will be identical to the limited UK Region 2 release, although the artwork does look much more promising.
We also have the artwork for both the Widescreen and Fullscreen versions of the 2003 Italian Job remake starring Mark Wahlberg here.

Glad to hear this is coming out in Oct. I missed my chance to get the R2 edition.
Is the coverart from a theatrical release? Can't say I'm crazy about it but it's the movie that matters anyway.

I don't usually complain about these "big head" covers, but I have begun to notice the trend with so many others pointing it out, and I don't really care for it. For The Italian Job, Paramount could very easily have stuck with the original art used for the laserdisc, which I think looks much better and evokes the mood of the film more....
Oh well, that was my one complaint about cover art for the year.

The original art had the chick naked?!
Now that would be a cover.
But I doubt they would use it on a movie that now carries a "G" rating.
If a high quality image of that original art exists, either post it here or send it to me. I would be happy to forward it to Matt Devillars at dvdcoverart.com to see if we can get a custom cover for the disc.

The big heads are just fugly. I really like the laser disc cover. Too bad they couldn't have used it. I wonder if "Once Upon a Time in the West" is going use the cool international art or morph into someones giant noggin.

Now, the R2 had a ridiculous box (like the Grease box), but it had the poster art...
... of the 1999 re-issue!
I'll be looking for a good shot of the poster, Robert...

Later on they got a red Amaray and then a black Amaray.
Hopefully Paramount dropped this kind of cardborad boxes.

DVD Talk Special Edition
I've never printed my own coverart for a dvd before but if you get that laserdisc artwork uploaded, I'll definitely give it a shot on my HP. That's way COOLER than that nauseating yellow they went with.

It only took about another year after the original release date, but I'm glad to see it out finally.

Rented this recently, wasn't too crazy about it, one of those instances where the remake was a improvement over the overblown original! I mean what was with that awful ending and that godawful song "self preservation society"??!!
