DVD's freezing on certain players only? Help..

I was watching Fight Club on my XBOX...and I notice it always seems to freeze/flicker at a certain spot. I tried this on my PS2 and it didn't freeze from what I remember. I then tried it on a Panasonic DVD player and it didn't freeze.

Now, I take very good care of my stuff, and there's no dirt/dust or anything in my players. I am very careful about stuff like this.

Is there a reason why it flickers/freezes for a moment at this certain point on my XBOX only?

Seems odd. Thanks!

Um ........ Microsoft made it. Maybe the next update will fix that and you'll then lose sound once in a while. XBox and PS2 are for games stick with a player that does what it's supposed to do well.

Where can I get XBOX updates? I don't have XBOX Live...

The last guy was being sarcastic... There are not updates for hardware! It has something to do with the way the xbox dvd player reads the disc.. it may not be as proficient at reading discs as say something made by sony. From what I remember, Xbox's use only Philips, Tompson, or Samsung drives... not exactly "well" known in the dvd world.

Good Luck

You should definitely try any discs that freeze, skip, jump to the next scene… on at least two different players from your own. I have a DVD that freezes on a Panasonic, flickers on a Samsung and plays fine on a Toshiba.

Yes I was being sarcastic. But there are updates for hardware. They're called firmware updates. Usually the manufacture will post an update that you burn to a CD and when played will update the firmware of the player. I have no idea if MS does this with XBox though. Sony sends out these updates for PS2 on a memory card IIRC.

Don't be so quick to jump on Samsung. They may not be "well" known in the DVD world, but mine performs like a champ. I don't understand why people look down their noses at a cheap Samsung, then post about how their Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic or other big name player won't play certain movies. In every case my Samsung has played the disc just fine.

I'm not going to pretend it's a high end player or anything, but I'd buy another one in a heartbeat!
