DVDPlanet says it's anamorphic.

Rob

edited to add: So does Amazon.

I think DDD has information for the cancelled release that was to come out, 3 years ago or so. As I recall, it was first to be released P&S in 1999 and that was cancelled. Then it was to be released in early 2000 with WS & P&S and a featurette and that was cancelled/postponed. According to Amazon the 8/2003 release now has the following features:

DVD Features:
Theatrical trailer(s)

Introduction by screenwriter Joyce H. Carrington, Paul Koslo ("Dutch"), and Eric Laneuville ("Richie")

"The Last Man Alive: The Omega Man"

"Charlton Heston: Science Fiction Legend"

Widescreen anamorphic format

They sure as hell BETTER BE releasing a 16x9 transfer. This is utter crap if they don't at this point in time. I can understand
studios using old, rehashed, LD transfers when DVD was in its infancy, but now that 16x9 televisions are taking off there's simply no excuse. I WILL NOT BUY a disc unless it's anamorphically enhanced unless it was originally shot for a 4x3 aspect ratio.

what was the last title Warner Bros. released that was letterbox but not anamorphic 16x9?

Yeah, but that was 1.66:1, and Warner hasn't adopted the anamorphic bars-at-the-side way of doing it. Considering the debate on how 1.66:1 should be presented, anamorphic or not, I understand why they'd be iffy on releasing anamorphic 1.66:1 films.

Despite rampant misuse of the term on the internet, "Letterbox" does not mean the same thing as "Non-Anamorphic".

All "letterboxed" means is that, when viewed on a 4:3 television, the film will be presented with black bars. This has no bearing on whether the disc is anamorphically enhanced or not. All anamorphic discs are also letterboxed.
