A Great "Rate My DVD Collection" Thread

Please rate my collection. But more importantly give me some recommendations! Thank you all!

Nice set of Criterions you got there. Here are some recommendations:

American Psycho
Clay Pigeons
Equilibrium
Tigerland

That's all I can think of. Very nice collection.

ChrisHicks 07-10-03 03:33 PM

any way of adding titles to Guzzlefish without typing them all in? I have over 1300 titles and it would take forever.

billy9215 07-10-03 03:33 PM

Nice collection, I see you're into Criterion:

I'd add

Bob Le Flambeur
Grey Gardens

Also, one of my personal favorites:

Black Orpheus

Cheers

Just look my list in my sig and supplement your colletion with whatever you don't have.

DonnachaOne 07-10-03 05:58 PM

The plural of Criterion is Criteria.

I'm pedantic.

When an English Word is used as a name the plural of the word does not apply to the plural of the name.

I'm more pedantic than you.

You have Bad Taste, but not Dead Alive?

mikewendt 07-10-03 06:33 PM

Good collection, I saw a lot of doubles though... You could eBay some of them off, unless they hold some value to you.

folgersnyourcup 07-10-03 07:36 PM

I am in owe of the Criterions you own Honking. I have two recommendations though that of the Criterion discs I own are my personal favorites. They are:

Hearts and Minds and Tokyo Olympiad

I'm a fan of documentaries and found both of these absolutely breathtaking. Hearts and Minds is 1.85:1 anamorphic while Tokyo Olympiad is 2.35:1 anamorphic and both look stunning and include hefty booklets full of great essays. I suggest you check out both if you like documentaries or are even at all interested in the Vietnam war or the olympics.

Also, for the price (10 bucks at DVD Planet) I would say Night and Fog Criterion is a must buy. An absolutely wonderful documentary with a great transfer for a dirt cheap price.

You know, I've seen hundreds of these threads, and I have to say that this is not a "great" thread. It's not even a "great Rate-My-DVD-Collection" thread.

Where's the pathos? The mystery? The motivation?

What we need here is some sense of threat or urgency! Perhaps you have relatives coming to visit soon and if you don't entertain them in between tourist attractions, they'll write you out of their multi-million dollar will! Now that would make a great thread. We could save your inheritance, entertain and expand the viewing experience of your family relations and bond together as DVDTalk members.

Please, try harder next time.

And get Red Beard: Criterion Collection :)

If DVDAF can export UPC codes like DVDProfiler, you can export the UPC's to a text file. Each UPC should be seperated by a space. Then just copy and past into guzzlefish. It will allow like 25 titles at a time.

He's got it. As do I. And I like these threads, although I liked it when we would recommend a title and go on to have someone rate your own collection.

Thanks guys. I do have Red Beard and Dead Alive. Missed those when I was lisiting I guess. These threads are kinda fun. We can all be dvd critics. Thanks for the Rec's I will check them out!

Best. Collection. Ever.

DarthVong 11-29-03 08:42 PM

Get The Howling SE, much better than the OOP version you own.

Kinyo 11-29-03 09:30 PM

Nice collection. You seem to really like criterion so my only suggestion is that you buy more criterions and maybe try and complete the collection.

sicklerice 11-29-03 09:48 PM

You have a pretty decent collection. Given some of your more telling choices, I really wonder if some of those Criterions aren't in there because you "want" to want them. :)

I think there are some wonderful Italian genre pieces that you may like. Virtually all the the AB and BU Spaghetti Westerns are well worth their low prices. There are a few truly great Dario Argento giallos too.... Deep Red (Profundo Rosso) and Cat O' Nine Tails jump to mind. Mario Bava's THE GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH would be a nice one also.

Hrm. That reminds me, I wonder why Four Flies on Grey Velvet isn't out on DVD yet..........

gutwrencher 11-29-03 10:24 PM

the thread starter has not been heard from in this thread....for almost 6 months. you might be talking to a ghost.

nice collection though...he only needs about 6 or 700 more essential titles.

QuiGonJosh 11-30-03 05:35 AM

Jeez...get the new Carrie SE dude...excellent stuff and probably find it for $10...

while were at this:

What do ya guys think of mine...links in my sig.

QuiGonJosh 11-30-03 06:53 AM

man....I'm uploading my collection to Guzzlefish...and I cant get Alien Quadrilogy to come up at all...and the site loads really rather slow...mm...

joliom 11-30-03 11:02 AM

He lost me with the Michael Moore films.

QuiGonJosh 11-30-03 11:59 AM

I got a question...I need to delete a couple of titles...how the hell do I do this on guzzlefish?

QuiGonJosh 11-30-03 12:00 PM
