Buffy: Season 5 - December 9th!

...according to Digital Bits.

I don't think a date's been posted yet. If it was, I missed it.

I'm glad they're not waiting until January, like they did with seasons 1 and 3.

I wish they would have waited till January. Too much $ to spend around that time anyway. I'll still be recuperating from my dvd purchases in November.

Adam Tyner 07-10-03 02:41 PM

Then don't buy it until January? :D

I think this is great news...three season sets in one calendar year...

mlemmond 07-10-03 02:56 PM

This is great news the sooner the get all of the current sets that studios are making money on done maybe they will move on to some of the other stuff we want.

jboehm 07-10-03 02:59 PM

Season 5 blew except for the musical. I hope I can buy that separately. I'm not holding my breath though.

That was season 6 chief. Five was the one where Dawn shows up.

mediabear 07-10-03 03:06 PM

Perfect! December 9 is my birthday. :)

rfduncan 07-10-03 03:31 PM

Alright! At this rate maybe I'll have the whole series by the end of 2004! :D:thumbsup:

Now get cranking on those Angel sets!

bboisvert 07-10-03 03:46 PM

I just finished Season 4 this week -- perfect timing! :) These can't come fast enough...

elise 07-10-03 04:15 PM

First Friends is sped up now Buffy. I'm thrilled that we get them sooner rather than later but it's killing me. :)

matome 07-10-03 04:27 PM

Excellent news! Glad to get it before the Holidays.

Yeah, but I won't get the pre-order discount if I buy it in January. No biggie, I'll probably buy it in December anyway, but would have prefered January since that seems to be a pretty "dead" month for dvd releases.

Chad 07-10-03 04:56 PM

Great! Now this is the way all (FOX) season sets should be put out.

Cartload 07-10-03 07:46 PM

This is welcome news since I'm suffering from withdrawal ever since I finished Season 4. I can watch it during my winter break.

lisadoris 07-10-03 08:03 PM

Good news! Nice to see studios are speeding up the process with these season sets. One week after DS9 S7 so already December's becoming expensive (not as bad as Nov though but there's still time)!

Looks like I was right about Dec getting expensive. According to the Bits Firefly is due on 12/9 as well. Guess Whedon wants his royalty checks all at once.

DRG 07-10-03 09:33 PM

Merry Christmas to me! My favorite season of the best show ever!!! :)

DVDProfessor 07-10-03 10:24 PM

I never saw Season 5...

...who is the main villain in season 5, hopefully better than Adam in season 4

DVDGUY1116 07-10-03 10:39 PM

Alright! Season 5 before the end of the year! I consider this the last truly great season of Buffy. Season 6 and 7 were very medicore. Anyway, The main villan for season 5 is Glory. She is far superior to Adam and the best Buffy "seasonal" big bad IMO. The only thing that brings season 5 down slightly is Dawn; the character I dislike the most in the Buffyverse.

costanza187 07-10-03 10:58 PM

you know ill be gettin it too!!!

Glory (hot blond chick from Bring it On). I know that Season 4 didn't have the "previously on Buffy" thing at the begining of each episode, and I really didn't care, but the final episode of 5 (The Gift) has my favorite "previously on Buffy," a montage of everything that had happened up till then. I hope they keep it in.

You know, I am so over this show. It was my very favorite for seasons 2-5, and I still watched and enjoyed 6 & 7, but found other programs (Alias, Gilmore Girls, Angel) much more entertaining.

When the show ended, everyone was all "What will life after Buffy be like?" and "What show will we talk about now?" I'm like, "Eh. Buffy."

I still will buy the DVDs, and I still think it was a great show, but season 7 really dampened my enthusiasm.

I hear you. I'm suffering withdrawal already because the show is over. I'm rewatching all of my sets again, but I sooooo want the last 3 seasons so I can complete my collection. I'm glad Fox is releasing this in time for Christmas--the only downside is we'll probably have to wait until next spring for Season 6! Arrgh!

otmetrud 07-11-03 09:49 AM

Uhh, where on the Digital Bits? I don't see it. Can you provide a link?

RobCA 07-11-03 09:53 AM

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mean2

Scroll down past the cover art and the Indy news, to the paragraph that begins, "We've got some new Fox TV street dates for you today..."
