Animated Mr. Bean coming to DVD

The Animated Mr. Bean series - Season One is coming to DVD on September 30. It is being released by A&E , the same people who released the recent Whole Bean set.

My source for this info is the release schedule at Hollywoodbitchslap.com

problem is - it appears that it's going to be 4:3 pan/scam..

the original was broadcast widescreen...

and I'll be curious if it's REALLY the complete Season 1, that was 26 1/2 hour episodes (2 shorts per ep for a total of 52 shorts in the first series... a second series of 26 eps just recently started..)

I hope it is widescreen. I have been looking forward to seeing this series. Isn't PBS supposed to start airing it, or did I miss it already?

I think I remember them saying it'll be shown on PBS starting in the Fall. I'm not quite sure though.

Surely, you mean your LOCAL PBS station, not the entire network. Most entertainment shows (Brit comedies, Dr. Who, etc.) are sold to stations on an individual basis, meaning that they're not shown in every town.

I'd be very surpised (pleasantly, though) if Mr. Bean was "networked" to every PBS affiliate.

The program director at my PBS station told me that the animated show is available to all PBS stations in the US free of charge. There is a charge to them for the live action show. Mine is going to start airing the animated one on Aug 15th. Some stations started showing it as early as May. If you don't get it call your local PBS and ask them to carry it.

I received an email confirming that the shows are indeed in fullscreen. I also found out the tentative dates for sets 2 and 3. Set 2 is scheduled for release on 3/30/04. Set 3 is scheduled for 11/30/04.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 04:26 PM.
