T. E. Lawrence, Lawrence being the dudes last name retails in my area for $32.99 + tax. I feel that is kinda steep, even though it's a older 2 disc set!

P.S. What's on Disc 2 different colors of sand, soft or gritty, sure isn't from the Song "Sound of the City". LOL

The 2 disc is an out of print limited edition. That's probably why it's so expensive. It's well worth the money though IMO.

Actually, disc 2 is more sand from the Sahara included to make you feel good about your purchase.

The single disc version only has the first half of the movie, but if you watch it twice it is just like watching the 2 disc version.

Hope this helps.

$32.99 too much, would rather watch my Vhs edition.

If the it's OOP how comes 3 retailers in my area have a total of 12 copies for sale at $32.99. Isn't that a bit odd if it's Out Of Production?

Actually, I just got the 2-disc LoA last week for 21.39 + shipping from Overstock.com. I wasn't aware this title was OOP. Worth every penny and then some, IMHO, OOP or not.

It's bs really. Double disc DVDs should never go for more than 20 dollars.

Some of these companies still think they're churning out Laserdiscs.

The MSRP was $39.95 when it was released. I have no idea why the price was so high (for a non-Criterion anyway).

Just to clarify, the 2-disc set is NOT out of print. The 2-disc set was not discontinued when the single disc version was released.

A couple of weeks ago, Target had the 2-disc cover listed (they were selling the one disc) for the price of 12.99

Took it to Circuit City and pricematched it

That said, if you can find it slighly cheaper, even at 32.99 it's a pretty good deal. Given that it's harder to find now that it's OOP(well, around my area I found 3 copies at a BB, the 1 copy at CC, and 1 copy at blockbuster). Besides, if you like the movie, it's worth the investment.

Just because something goes out of production doesn't mean retailers immediately pull stock off their shelves. At least I think. It might have been a bit odd if it had been out of production for a few years and then you had seen it at a retailer.

I paid 30 bucks for this disc back when it came out, it has always been priced very high. Columbia Tristar priced this and Bridge On The River Kwai 2-disc set very high but I ended up buying them both anyway. Going by laserdisc prices back ten years ago 30 bucks for Lawrence Of Arabia and 27 bucks for Bridge On The River Kwai is an absolute STEAL!

danol, I know you have swore off Columbia House in another thread, but Lawrence of Arabia - Limited Edition is still listed as a Phone-Order Only Enrollment title. These high MSRP titles are the perfect reason to put up with some of CH's quirks. I picked up LOA:LE and Bridge On The River Kwai LE back in March 2002 for ~$8 each.

Why is it so expensive? Because it's worth it.

It's 32.99 because you're obviously shopping at the wrong place. I think I paid about $26 for mine.

You paid too much too. Some people paid $12.99 or less for their copy by price matching to Target's ad which showed the LE cover few weeks ago

I paid $22.99 a year ago. I'd suggest you find a better place to shop.

Everything's relative. I paid $30 for it on VHS many years ago, and gladly paid $63 for it on laserdisc a few years after that. (That was the CLV Criterion. There was also a CAV Criterion Collection release that listed for $124.95!)
