Wrestling Fans -- List some good ECW titles (obviously Region 2) to pickup

Getting ready to order about 6 or 7 titles from blackstar UK since we here in the US have only a few options to choose from and I would like your input on some titles to get.

So far I was thinking of these

ECW - A Matter Of Respect 96 (DVD) (Region 2)
ECW - Cyberslam 96 (DVD) (Region 2)
ECW - Hardcore Heaven '96 (DVD) (Region 2)
ECW - Heatwave '96 (DVD) (Region 2)
ECW - Massacre On Queens Boulevard (DVD)
ECW - Natural Born Killaz (DVD) (Region 2)

LMK what you guys think.

Thanks

Greg

FYI: I already have all of the US released DVDs (13 of them I believe)

You might want to consider holding off for a few months. WWE is in the processing of purchasing all the ECW footage from the production company that owns it. From what I understand the current ECW DVDs aren't that great. Just a thought...

It is possible WWE will buy the footage and not release it.

IMHO it will be a long time before we see WWE release any of these. At best I would imagine that all they will do is pull some pieces of these matches for compilation/history tapes that they release in the future (ie best of RVD, Jericho, etc.).

I cannot imagine WWE EVER releasing the actual PPVs in any form.

This is of course saying they actually get the rights to these archives.

Yeah, it will be awhile, if ever for the WWE to release these. And even if they do, there's no guarantee it will be the whole show. They'll probably just put matches on as bonus features of other DVDs.

So I buy ECW DVDs from R2 all the time too!

Natural Born Killaz is the first ECW tape I ever saw. It was amazing! Definitely one to get.

Any of the Hardcore Heaven series is good to get. Same goes for the Living Dangerously series. Go and read the reviews on Amazon.co.uk.

Also, I got the first ECW Hardcore TV DVD a couple weeks ago. This was amazing! Very well edited and put together. 2 hours. I plan on getting the rest of the TV series soon!

Definately get Cyberslam '96! I t has an awesome Sabu vs. 2 Cold Scorpio match. Brian Pillan debuts and goes nuts.

Massacre On Queens Boulevard. All kinds of wild brawls,

Heatwave '96. Great 4 way match with Chris Jericho vs. Shane Douglas vs. 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Pitbull #2.

Hardcore Heaven '96. Dreamer get chokeslamed of the top of the arenas entrance way through 3 tables. Sabu vs. Rob Van Dam! great match.

Can anyone confirm that these UK released ECW DVD's are R0? I swear someone told me that. And one more question, if WWE buys the catalog, that is only for US right, and these will not go OOP?

I'm sorry I know NOTHING about PAL, what would I have to do to watch these if they are R0? Do I need an all-region player?

IMO a region free player is essential no matter what. Some things may be SE and not censored on non-R1 while being barebones and censored on R1.

However they are not needed to play Region 0 discs. But your player needs to be able to convert PAL to NTSC or you need a multi system TV that has both PAL and NTSC. Good Multi Region players can covert PAL signals to NTSC. So this is not a problem.

Here’s probably the best solution: Hook a PC to your TV and get a DVD-Rom for about $50. On a PC there is no such thing as PAL and NTSC so any signal will go through fine, and DVD-Roms are either region free or can easily be made region free through a firmware upgrade.
