Is my Scarface DVD legit or not?
O.K. I've searched a bunch of threads, with a lot of people asking about their copies of Scarface, and whether they're legit or not. Trouble is, there don't seem to be any pictures to go by, or anything truly descriptive to allow anyone to draw any real conclusions. Here's my situation:
I just bought a copy of Scarface from an eBay Buy It Now auction. It says "Collector's Edition" on the spine, it has "dts DIGITAL SURROUND SOUND" at the top of the front, and below that it says "widescreen version" in a gray stripe. Also on the front there is a small, round hologram sticker that says "THX Superbit DTS Original" around the border of the sticker, and inside the border it has the DVD Video logo with a number 9 below that. It does confirm region 1 capability on the back, and therefore plays just fine for me.
There's no insert inside the case. The disc has the same picture as on the front of the case, making it a non-double-sided disc, as I've read that some other people got. The playback picture isn't the absolute best, but it looks ok, and it is anamorphic, as stated. The sound which claims to be dts doesn't really sound all that great, as there is constant sound coming from all of the speakers of my surround sound system. It just sounds like regular stereo. The only other thing I could find wrong is a couple mis-spellings on the back of the case, which says "(c) 2000 Layout and Design Columbia Tristar Hoem Video. All rights Reserved. WARNING: For private home use only. Unauthorized public performance, broadcasting or copying is a violantion of applicable laws. Dolby and the Double-D symbol are trademarks of Dolby Laboratories."
Based on all this, is my copy legit? Thanks in advance for the information.
