DD is just as good as DTS, probably more often better, at least for options. Turn the volume up about 4 and ease off on the LFE by 2 or so and you should have an approximation of the DTS version.

Perhaps you need to actually do some reading on these 2 codecs. Or do real, objective comparisons.

I had a tough time finding the concert clip too... I'm at work now and can't check but from my recollection I believe I went under promotional materials or something like that.... It was right under a documentary I think. So don't feel too bad, I was lost finding it too! I wish I could remember exactly what it was under... I'm sure you'll find it though and if not someone else should be able to check and help you out.

(Donnacha sits back, happy that he's read up on the codecs and done real, objective comparisons, and watches his Fellowship Of The Ring DVD - in dts...)

Bought it today and maybe it's just me, but I didn't notice any scenes being out of sync. I do agree however, with the sound; it's just lacking. I had to turn the volume up VERY loud to hear certain parts of the movie, which is quite loud, since for whatever reason, the volume on my DVD's is always a lot lower than anything I watch on TV.

I didnt notice when I saw it last night, but my dad did when he saw it today. Oh well
Heres a BIGGER problem though!
I noticed this when I saw the movie last night: When the Sheriff is going to torture Will, he starts to yell something, but the scene quickly cuts out. It seems like it wasnt meant to cut there or like the DVD skipped. Whenever I rewound it, it still cut at that moment. Is it meant to be this way of is the DVD messed up?

I was watching my friend's copy and the DTS track was waaaaay out of synch with the action onscreen. This was using a Denon 2800-II. We watched the start of the DVD on his Panasonic 5-disc changer and we noticed that the DVD started to drop a few frames here and there. A quick hit of the rewind button got it to play properly. I think he got a bad disc, but he wasn't too concerned. A lot of the darker scenes didn't do much to impress me.
I remember noticing that one scene with the Sheriff had a pretty abrupt transition. It is probaby the same part you describe. I don't have this DVD, so I can't check it out.

In the scene with Will Scarlett (O'Hara) what makes it seem so abrupt is that a bit of music starts, but than stops when the scene changes. Its like one of those scenes where the music starts ahead of time as a prelude to the next scene; but here it just swithces to a regular scene with no music. Weird.
Apparently ALOT of people have this DVD so someone go check it out!
And on my DVD, the DTS is out of sync on ONE line only. Everything else seemed right on que.
