Tears of the Sun AR 240.1??

I was looking on the back of the box and instead of being 2.33.1 Anamorphic..it was 240.1 Anamorphic what's the difference??

.07?? Or in the case of 2.35:1 the difference is .05

:D

2.35:1 is the aspect ratio of the image from an unsqueezed 35mm anamorphic negative. When prints are struck from a cut negative, splice lines are often visible between frames. SMPTE guidelines for theatrical projection call for a scope aperture plate cut to a projected aspect ratio of 2.40:1 in order to cover any errant splices.

So, the shorter answer is, 2.35:1 is the aspect ratio on the negative and 2.40:1 is the proper projection ratio in theaters. Either or both could be considered accurate for video transfers.

SMPTE-195 actually calls for a scope aperture of about 2.39:1 (.825" x .690", with anamorphic projection), but who's counting? ;)

240:1?!?

That would take one hell of a long theater to accommodate!

Actually he had it as 240.1

That would be some damn good surround sound! :)
