Two Towers EE Gift Set -- WOOHOO!

Gift Set Picture

Check this out!

New Line have released some concept artwork of the collector's edition release of The Two Towers: Extended Edition starring Elijah Wood. The set will include a single statue of Smeagol along with the extended edition of the film. The extended edition itself will carry 43 minutes of new and extended scenes as well as two discs jam packed with newly created special features. It will be available to own from the 18th November this year.

According to theonering.net, the Smeagol statue will be a half of a two piece set. The other piece being a Gollum statue available from Sideshow at a discount to EE owners.

A Gollum statue and a Smeagol statue is a great idea, IMO. I always figured they'd make two statues/bookends of the Two Towers.

No....

The bookends should be of the two towers (Orthanc & Barad-Dur). I can't be the only one who wanted these.

Have to agree with [b]fumanstan[b/] on this one, I personally think the Smeagol statue looks horrible. Guess I'll won't be getting the gift set this time and I'll put it between the statues from the first along with FOTR.

arg...

It doesn't look great but that is just a rendering of it and not the final product. Hopefully the quality will be improved when it is released. I am not buying it for the statue though, so I won't mind too much.

Looks good! I especially like the design of the box.. very nice. Now will this extended edition comes in 4 discs or just 2? If it isn't in 4 discs I'll be really disappointed since the Fellowship EE came out in 4.

That's why it's called a CONCEPT DESIGN. I'm sure they have more of them, and I hope the twin towers make out better.

It will come in 4 discs. 2 for the movie and 2 for the extra features.

Actually, the towers of reference may have been Orthanc and Minas Morgul. Or was it Orthanc and Cirith Ungol. Or maybe Barad-dur and Minas Tirith. (The last one fits the story best IMO.)

Nobody really knows for sure:

I don't mind that it doesn't come with another set of bookends. I mean, how many do you need to hold the collection? I may just skip the statue though and just get the regular EE

How could they have made orthanc/barad-dur bookends? First they would be tiny and simply underwhelming, second they would be so thin and fragile due to the obvious fact that they are 'towers'(shaped like long sticks) that they would be unfit to even be 'dvdends'.

I'll take the gollum statue.

Enough of the bookends even though a gollum statue is nice but they should have given us a nice replica of the Castle of Rohan instead.

Yes he was, but I don't want a statue of him holding up my DVD.

IF they were bookends, then that would make sense. HOWEVER, these are not bookends. They are just statues (and very cool ones, at that). Why do people keep assuming that a gift set automatically means "bookends"?

Not to bad, I also was hopeing for a set of bookends of the two towers (Which ever they may be). I held off on getting the gift collectors set the first time around.

Why do people keep calling the Smeagol statue "These". Ifrom the discription:
"The set will include a single statue of Smeagol"

Not a bookend, just a single statue. I like it, though of course it's a production design and god knows how the production design looks better then the final statue, so I don't want to know what the final might end up looking like.

Why would anyone want another set of bookends? I mean, how queer would it look if each EE set came with a set of bookends? So then you'd have three "books" (the dvd cases) on a shelf, each in it's own set of bookends...doesn't make much sense to me.

Bah, it's Orthanc and Barad-dur. The Two Towers biggest storyline is the alliance between Saruman and Sauron and those are their towers.

Saruman even has a line mentioning the two towers by name and the alliance in the film.

ROFLMAO. Guess you'll be asking for LOTR and The Hobbit novels made to scale of the giant bookends then.

Scale doesn't mean large, just accurate dimensions based on the "real" thing.
