The most packed single disc DVD?
 

So what is the most loaded single-disc DVD out there, or that you own? By loaded I mean tons of extras (commentaries, documentaries) as well as having a good transfer too. Only those DVDs with one disc.

Ocean's 11 rings a bell, but I haven't really thought hard about it. I'm sure there are much more packed single DVDs.

12 Monkeys has the movie, commentary track and a feature-length documentary on one disc and still looks pretty great.
A lot of those early Universal laserdisc ports were pretty packed (but their rigid adherance to the one-disc format led to the cutting of the Jaws documentary by an hour :( )

Mallrats is pretty loaded. Requiem for a Dream as well.

The Thing comes to mind. Alien is pretty loaded also.

I could cheat (sorta) and say the DVD18 single disc Terminator 2:UE.... :)

Both great discs, I highly recommend the Software Tutorial on Waking Life and the "The Fear of God" full-length documentary on the The Exorcist disc. All the other discs mentioned above are quite good--especially 12 Monkeys, Mallrats, and Requiem for a Dream.

Image's release of Louis Feuillade's Les Vampires (1915) contains the complete six and a half hour serial on a single, double-sided, DVD-18 disc. Hard to top that. It's also among the most expensive single-disc releases (MSRP: $69.99).

The Bond DVDs are pretty packed.

Pretty much any Universal SE like 12 Monkeys, the Thing, Vertigo, Last Starfighter, Conan is filled to the brim with extras. The James Bond dvd's are also equally packed. The only other titles I can think as being so packed are Dreamworks titles (ANTZ, Prince of Egypt) or Superman (although its a 2 sider). Its great to have packed disks, btw. I remember how excited I was when I started exploring the special features of the Thing and 12 Monkeys... there seemed like there was so much to do and see. Unfortunately, I now take most special features for granted and rarely check out all of the cool documentaries or commentaries since I don't have as much time as I used to.

Universal's out of print Dracula (original 1931 one) is packed.

It has the 1931 film with an additonal 5.0 music score-added track (and original mono) plus a commentary. It also has the spanish version. There is also a documentary, trailer, and galleries.

Image's DVD of the first Flash Gordon serial packs the 250 minute serial onto one DVD-9.

the criterions Haxan and George washington are pretty packed.

Haxan has 2 versions of the films (one 104 minute silent verion with title cards and one 76 minute version with William s. Burroughs narrating), commentary, outtakes and screen test, stills

George washington has commentary, deleted scenes with commentary, trailers, about 3-6 (can't remember how many) of David Green's short films, Charile Rose interview, video interviews with cast, a short film that influenced george washington.

Also Rules of Attraction has 6 commentaries.

These are all on one side. for 2 sided, you can't beat T2:UE

AND A COMMENTARY!!! All the Universal Monsters are packed

Another packed Universal title is 1941: Two and a half hour director's cut, ninty minute documentary, trailers, galleries, etc.

Isn't the Perfect Storm packed rediculously with like 5 commentaries?

The single disc version of Boogie Nights had quite a bit on it.

Criterion's The Red Shoes: 2.5 hour movie, 2 commentary tracks, really extensive galleries, clips from many other P&P movies, storyboard comparison, original fairytale read by Jeremy Irons

Criterion's Beauty and the Beast re-release: Original french track, 5.1 Philip Glass track, 2 commentaries, several docs. When I read the specs I expected it to be a 2 disc and was surprised when it wasn't.

Pretty packed for a film that wasn't a big blockbuster...
3 commentary tracks is pretty impressive for a single disc release.

...and of course the aforementioned "The Exorcist-25th Anniversary Edition

I just got Nekromantik 2 in the mail from Barrel Entertainment. this disc is loaded!!!:thumbsup:

the only catch is...it comes with a cd soundtrack.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

this dvd is hotter than hellfire.

I saw this last weekend up in L.A. They were selling it for $29. Is it cheaper through Barrel? Man, the first one and this "sequel" are pretty whacked stuff... :up:

My vote would be for The Wizard of Oz SE DVD.

It has about 8 hours of extras plus the movie on one disc!

Admittedly, quite a few of the extras are audio only. (Such as the complete radio broadcast of the premier, which includes an interview with an exuberant Julie Garland.) But it's all great stuff!

Here's the list:

But isn't the wizard of oz one of those dvd's where you have to play a game to get the extras or has a very confusing menu?

The menu *is* a little confusing ... but there's no game involved (perhaps you're thinking of the second disc of the original Harry Potter movie)?

The extras are pretty much laid out there for you to explore!

Any of the New Line Infinifilm discs are loaded with supplements and still find room for great transfers and occasionally even DTS 6.1 audio.

Also, I'd disqualify Donnie Darko from the list. Terrific movie and a lot of interesting extras, but the transfer is weak. I know it's due to the source material and isn't Fox's fault, but still, high video quality is among the criteria and the DVD doesn't deliver in that category.
