From what I remember, there was a documentary that was about an hour long and deleted scenes.

Hi Guys,

I'm a 58-year old Florida retiree who never watches network TV, so I have absolutely no idea what any of you are talking about. Am I being insulted or just getting some good-natured kidding?

Just good-natured ribbing. "Cribs" is a show on MTV in which rap stars and other celebrities show off their homes. Rap stars have a fondness for "Scarface."

Got it, thanks! My intention was not to brag or show off, just to say that I was a big fan of the movie and was looking forward to the upcoming release of the new DVD. But obviously I was wrong . . . a picture is NOT worth 1,000 words, at least not when they're the wrong words!

AH specs from DVDFile:
Rounding out today's news, we have just received the specs for that new Animal House: Double Secret Probation Edition arriving from Universal Studios Home Video on August 26th. Available in separate 1.85;1 anamorphic widescreen and full screen editions, both feature new Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks, "The Yearbook - An Animal House Reunion" documentary as seen on the previous release, the new "Where Are They Now? - A Delta Alumni Update" featurette, "Did You Know That?" Universal Animated Anecdotes, plus production notes and trailers. Retail is $26.95.

Thanks for the info. That really doesn't sound like the major upgrade I had imagined. it'll be great to have Animal House back in print, but it sounds like the Collector's Edition I have will be fine. I don't need a 5.1 remastered track and I already know that Karen Allen was in Raiders, Tim Matheson works constantly, Tom Hulce was nominated for and Oscar and John Belushi is dead.
I would have thought at least they could have gotten Harold Ramis and John Landis to record a commentary track together.

It also doesn't say anything about the transfer being new, just the 5.1 track. Think I'm keeping the CE.

That cover art for the new Animal House disc is horrible!

It's not on the level of Real Genius or anything, but the CE cover art was so much better than this. Fortunately I have the CE, so I don't have to worry about buying this...

Is anyone else really disappointed that this new "Double Secret Probation" edition of "Animal House" essentially is the same version as the Collector's Edition? - the only new extras on the DVD are the "new 'Where Are They Now? - A Delta Alumni Update' featurette and 'Did You Know That?' Universal Animated Anecdotes. You think Universal could have put a little more effort into this new 25th anniversary release.

If it came with a rebate for those who already own the CE and a commentary track or two, I would buy it. I'll stick with my CE.

I am not disappointed as I do not have this DVD and did not want to pay bay prices to get it. Oh, and 5.1 sounds pretty good to me.

I have the original Animal House Collector's Edition and it is anamorphic. The picture is very good too, it was obviously remastered for that edition. I don't know why some people are complaining about the original Collector's Edition, it had a very good picture. The audio was the original mono track, however, though I can't imagine how much of an improvement a 5.1 track would be for such an old movie.

Nonetheless, if the new edition has a commentary I might consider upgrading.
