Anyone having problems playing the Pianist too????

When I watch this movie on my brand new toshiba player, it freezes up at a scene where Adrian Brody is in the bathtub and then skips about 20 minutes of the film. I didn't notice at first, because I thought it was just a layer change, but then I thought to myself that the movie was rather short for some reason so I rewinded it back and saw the lost footage. I can play those scenes but my player wont let me past that bathtub scene. Any thoughts????

Is it my player or a corrupt DVD?????

It sounds like a bad disc. It might help if you said what version you have.

I have the widescreen version and a Toshiba SD-3750.

Canadian or American version?

beasman 06-08-03 11:02 AM

American Version. Region 1.

You're supposed to play the piano, not the pianist.

Well, I have the Canadian version so I can't compare. But like I said, it sounds like a bad disc.

Those that have the Toshiba problems what version firmware you guys running ?

To find out: Without a DVD in the player power up then press Zoom-6-0-6-Zoom.

I running v3.000 (I have not tried the American version of Pianist yet).

I've had similar problems with a few disks recently. Exchanging the disk has solved the problem every time.

NO, mine plays just fine

I've heard it has problems on older models. It plays best on younger DVD players.

Yup, had the exact same thing happen on my Pioneer LD/DVD combo. I'm going to try to watch it on my second DVD player (unfortunately only a 13" TV/DVD combo).

But I feel your pain.

Hmm, I've got the Panasonic RV32 and from the bathtub scene on there were several places where the image would break up. I think it's defective though since there are some specks on the disc that won't come off. Odd how it starts on the same scene beasman's having problems with though... By the way, I got it from Columbiahouse, but would it be a good idea to try exchanging it at Walmart so it doesn't take so long to get a replacement?

I have an older Toshiba (SD-1700), it played The Pianist fine (just finished watching it ~ 30 minutes ago).

I'd tell you what firmware I have, but I don't have my orignal remote (thus, no zoom).
