New August Horror films: Invitation to hell, Fright Night 2, Repossessed + moe

Here is artisan's august horror lineup:

Streeting 8/19/03:

Bride Of Re-animator
Fright Night Part II
Invitation To Hell (Wes Craven T.V. Film from the 80s)
Lair Of The White Worm
Repossessed

+ a batch of direct to video crap, as per usual of artisan.

Lair of the white worm & Bride of re-animator have previously been available but have been out of print.

**edit

these are fullscreen. BLAH!

It'd be nice if it were anamorphic since the first release wasn't

Bad news from DVDFile:
Rounding out the week's news is a rather interesting batch of titles just announced by Artisan Entertainment. Featuring a few reissues of titles already released on DVD as well as some titles that used to be distributed by other studios, cult and horror fans may find a few of these worth considering. Due for release on August 19th are: Bride of Re-Animator, The Fourth Angel, Fright Night Part II, I've Been Waiting For You, Killing Mr. Griffin, Lair of the White Worm, Rodentz and Linda Blair in the spoof Repossessed. All are presented in full screen only with no real extras aside from trailers, despite the fact that some of these had extras on previous releases. Retail is $14.95 a pop.

"At least artisan is good at one thing...being consistent at sucking ass."

This is a great line and oh-so-true. How long must the ass-suckiness continue?

No OAR = No sale.

Bummer, but that's the way it is - there are simply too many DVDs that I eventually want to add to my collection, so wasting $ on a non-OAR release is never a consideration.

i have the old bride dvd, and i'm sad to say it isn't that great. i always watch it fullscreen because with the matting turned on, you can still see a centimeter or two of the negative above and below the matte. you aren't losing anything by watching it full screen, so if you don't own it and are interested, i'd pick up or at least rent the new version coming out.

also, i'll be picking up lair of the white worm, i'm pretty sure the vhs version i've seen a few times was fullscreen.

Artisan needs to give up Bride of Re-A and let Elite do the ME version of it like they did the first one.

I can't wait till Artisan loses the rights to all their films.

I'm not sure if you realize it, but Lair of the White Worm was previously released on DVD in a widescreen special edition (with audio commentary, etc.):

It's OOP now, but people may want to consider seeking this out instead of getting this piece-of-crap fullscreen, barebones re-release from Artisan.

You know... A new anamorphic transfer for Bride of Re-Animator would have been an automatic sale for this DVDTalker... And I would have no problem paying $20 for it... But this... This... I would not give a nickel for on a good day. If this is the best that Artisan can do, then perhaps it's time for them to get out of the DVD business...

Bizarre, considering the previous Lair was released by Artisan and was anamorphic with commentary. What are they smoking over there?

Seriously Paramount gets a lot of flack about not releasing extras, but atleast all of their titles are OAR. Artisan is just a joke.

Bare bones I can handle, but f**k this full frame garbage.

We should email, call, and/or write to Artisan and let them know that we won't be buying these titles because they are not OAR.

Will it work, probably not, but when they see the lack of sales for these title, atleast they will know why they are not selling.
