Anyone else have this problem with Animatrx?

I bought Animatrix from BB yesterday, came home today after work, opened the case to play it, and there is NO DVD inside! Please don't tell me I'm the only one, or I'm cursed...And on top of that, I PM'ed Target and picked up LOTR:EE at the same time. Opened it and all the little plastic holding things that hold the DVD in the middle were broken half off on top of the DVD's, making them slide EVERYWHERE...what are the odds??? Anyone have any advice as to how to handle this, or would BB trip if I took it back to get an exchange??? Please advise...

As long as you have the receipt and nothing to hide, go for it. And don't go off the hook if they act suspicious, just work through it. They shouldn't put up too much of a fight if you want to exchange both; I've returned multiple defective titles before in one shot.

Sorry... mine came with a disc.... and a patch... and the fake booger-stuff under the patch :)

Mine came intact with the DVD, Patch, and Boogers as well. Guess you had some bad luck there.

Same Here. Sorry.

Haha, no patch here, AND a disc :) I rule you all ;)

the patch is a good thing.

This happened to me oncewith a cd. I once got a dvd with 2 inside!

GoVegan 06-05-03 08:37 AM

No, mine had a disc, but just like your FOTR disc, the plastic bits holding the disc had broken and the disc was sliding all over the place and getting scratched up. I got mine from Amazon, so I guess I'll just keep it, rather than go through the trouble of getting a replacement.

GoVegan: You can always try doing an exchange at a local store. I exchanged a disc with a damaged spindle ("the plastic bits") once no problem at Wal-Mart. Of course, don't mention you got it elsewhere and hope you get a nice CSR. There are a few other places that would probably do the exchange as well.

I never had it happen to a DVD, but back in the mid 90's I worked for an online gaming company and each release day I'd have to go buy multiple copies of new releases. Many times those would have no disc. The first time it happened I was buying 9 copies of Diablo, and 5 didn't have a disc in it. I thought the guy at the store was going to be suspicious when I went back, but it turns out it was just the opposite. He said game companies rush new releases out so quickly at times that some boxes come empty. He gladly exchanged the empty ones for full ones for me, and we actually had come up with 2 more empties when we were verifying discs were inside the boxes. This would happen on and off after that.

My Animatrix was fine, and included the patch. But I want my boogers!!

Uh, no it's not. The crap on the back of patch ruined my DVD case and as if it wasn't bad enough that it was a snapper.

Well, I got mine at suncoast, no patch, no boogers, great dvd.

one way to make sure that you don't get a case with loose dvds in it is to give it a little shake when you grab it off the shelves. If you hear the disks skiding around make sure you do not purchase that one.

Side note sometimes the vendor puts in items (coupons, ordering info, etc.) inside that sound like a disk moving around.

That's the worst part. I always do that when I buy DVDs in the store, so as soon as I had the box from Amazon in my hands, I could tell one of the discs was flying around.

I've had really bad luck lately, though. I bought a 2-disc Spiritualized CD set a few weeks ago and the plastic bits on both sides were shattered, so both discs were loose. The packaging was so tight, though, that I couldn't tell.

Update: Went to BB yesterday, and they swapped it out for me. The CSR looked at me like I was crazy when I said that there was no DVD, but they swapped it for me, as well as the LOTR:EE. THANKS BB!

ok, what is a patch? i guess bugger is the sticky stuff under the patch

jiggawhat 06-06-03 03:41 PM

I always shake the dvds a little bit to make sure that the inside is not broken in any way.

Got round to watching my R1 today!...is this disc supposed to have forced subtitles? as i've tried it on 2 different players and a DVD-Rom and still have subtitles that aren't able to be removed?? also it appears my R1 is coded for more than one region as it plays on my friend's R2 only player!!
