2-Disc Warner SE Wish List

So, if Warner Brothers was listening to you and said we'll make your top 10 list of Warner DVDs into full blown Special Editions...which ones would you tell them?

1. Batman

2. Batman Returns

3. The Shawshank Redemption

4. Heat

5. Clockwork Orange

6. Goodfellas

7. The Matrix

8. Full Metal Jacket

9. The Shining

10. The Green Mile

LBPound 06-04-03 09:35 AM

1) The Client
2) The Fugitive (although the 1-disc Special Edition is pretty cool)
3) Sleepers
4) The Shawshank Redemption
5) All The President's Men
6) Goodfellas
7) Quick Change (well, ANY DVD will really do for this one)
8) The Shining
9) Ocean's Eleven (2001)
10) Hmm...some kind of ultra-high-definition 2-disc set with all the episodes of "Growing Pains", "Perfect Strangers" and "ALF." Hey, it could happen... ;)

RobCA 06-04-03 09:53 AM

1. Batman
2. Batman Returns
3. Batman Forever
4. Batman & Robin
5. Beetlejuice
6. Strangers on a Train
7. Superman II
8. Superman III
9. Whatever Happened To Baby Jane
10. Who's That Girl :D

Mazinger 06-04-03 10:03 AM

Probably "Batman", but I don't see the reason for it having to be a 2 disc release though.

I usually like director commentaries, but if Tim Burton did this one I might just skip it.

JEStinson3 06-04-03 10:36 AM

Most of what has been mentioned would be great, but I really want The Wild Bunch. The current disc is a flipper and I would really like to get a version that isn't a flipper. Maybe they can let Criterion give it the same treatment that they gave Peckinpah's Straw Dogs.

D-Ball 06-04-03 10:47 AM

In no particular order:

Maverick
Goodfellas
The Shawshank Redemption
Heat
Bonnie & Clyde
Cool Hand Luke
The Wild Bunch
Key Largo
Blade Runner
LA Confidential

Geofferson 06-04-03 10:51 AM

1) Heat
2) The Shawshank Redemption
3) Superman II
4) Superman III
5) Blade Runner

Samuel 06-04-03 11:43 AM

I'd like to get Blade Runner with the Deckard voice-over.

Also Beetlejuice

REL77 06-04-03 12:13 PM

1. Goodfellas
2. The Shawshank Redemption
3. Heat
4. Maverick
5. Batman
6. The Green Mile

fumanstan 06-04-03 12:19 PM

Definatly Batman.

CCGoldRush 06-04-03 12:28 PM

Goodfellas is definitely in the works already.

I can't wait for Goodfellas!

I'd love to see the following in 2-disc SEs

Batman
Batman Returns
The Shawshank Redemption
The Green Mile
Strangers on a Train
Ocean's Eleven
Superman
Dial "M" for Murder (this is a WB title, isn't it?)

Jericho 06-04-03 01:23 PM

Maybe not my top 10, but movies that come to mind I wish they would "upgrade"

1. The Wild Bunch
2. Batman
3. Batman Returns
4. Batman Forever
5. Goodfellas
6. Bladerunner
7. The Maltese Falcon
8. The Big Sleep
9. A Streetcar Named Desire
10. Network

P.S. Does WB own the rights to After Hours?

Dubya 06-04-03 01:30 PM

Caddyshack :D

Goodfellas
Heat
Batman

milo bloom 06-04-03 01:33 PM

Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Beyond:Return of the Joker Uncut version (seriously needs 16x9 and DTS would be wonderful...)
Beetlejuice

BladeRunner needs two discs for each version of the movie alone. Theatrical, 1992 cut, workprint, Ridley's latest version, how many are there?

Mondo Kane 06-04-03 01:46 PM

#1-Batman

Probably "Batman", but I don't see the reason for it having to be a 2 disc release though.
There's quite a bit to showcase IMO. One thing that I would really love to see is a recent featurette on how Batman changed the entire landscape on how a "comic book movie" should look. There's also a couple of music videos by Prince to throw in!

#2-Malcolm X
#3-The Wild Bunch
#4-Strangers on a Train
#5-Excalibur
#6-Deliverance
#7-Enter The Dragon
#8-SuperFly
#9-THX 1138
#10-Purple Rain
#11-Beetlejuice
#12-New Jack City
#13-Splendor in the Grass
#14-Batman:Mask of the Phantasm
#15-Lost Boys

Grizzly 06-04-03 02:28 PM

bonnie and clyde deserves the WB SE treatment.

Dsilva71 06-04-03 03:59 PM

1.Contact
2.Ben Hur
3.Goodfellas
4.Shawshank Redemption
5.Green Mile
6.Heat
7.Full Metal Jacket

Rizor 06-04-03 05:41 PM

Can't really add to anything that hasn't been said. I'm wishing for the Batman, Batman Returns, and Batman Forever, The Shawshank Redemption. I'd love to see an SE of the Green Mile, Superman II, and other classic titles (Maltese Falcon, etc).

I'm hoping Blade Runner comes soon, but that'd be three discs. Also, they should launch a 2-Disc Kubrick Collection. How 'bout some feaures on 'em.

What, the packed Superman DVD-18 isn't enough for you? Sheesh...
(although if they did have some sort of reconstruction/storyboard/commentary from Donner about how the first film was originally supposed to be like, and how Superman II would have been changed, then that would be pretty sweet)>

ckolchak 06-04-03 06:15 PM

For Titles Already Available
The Searchers
Gone With the Wind
LA Confidential
Excalibur
Blade Runner
The Road Warrior

Titles Not Out Yet
The Adventures Of Robin Hood
Dr. Jeckyll & Mr Hyde
East Of Eden
Postman Always Rings Twice
The Libeled Lady
these last two, aklong with Hyde, will probably show up as single discers, but especially in the case of TLL, i could easily see seperate features focusing on Spencer Tracy, Jean Harlow, William Powell , and Myrna Loy, as well as material focusing on the film and possibly the screwball romatic comedy in general

Ghostface180 06-04-03 06:37 PM

Goodfellas
Mean Streets
After Hours
The Shawshank Redemption
Batman
A Clockwork Orange
Heat
The Shining

Superman 2
East Of Eden

DonnachaOne 06-04-03 11:09 PM

No Batman SEs until the next film comes out, folks.

Pf the above ones mentioned, these are in development:
Goodfellas
The Adventures Of Robin Hood

Planned (By the directors)
The Shawshank Redmption
The Outsiders
Blade Runner

Personally, I'd like a new Superman with the option of the theatrical cut on Disc 2. Also, a proper SE of The Matrix - not the cash-in quickie that we were threatened with a few months ago.

PatrickMcCart 06-04-03 11:45 PM

A lot of the mentioned titles could use good SEs, but there is simply not enough to make 2-disc editions worthwhile.

The first Batman movie could use a 2-discer, while the rest likely wouldn't get it.

I'd like to see a 2-disc SE of Erich Von Stroheim's Greed. The optimal way would be to have the first disc be a DVD-14 which would split the reconstrusted 250 min. version. The second disc would have the theatrical version (with Carl Davis score) and extras. Perhaps both could have commentaries.

Around the World in Eighty Days would make a wonderful 2-disc SE. There is TONS (literally) of material in the Library of Congress that could make at least 2 discs of extras.

reubs82 06-05-03 10:17 AM

Here is my Warner wish-list regardless of it is in development or if it would have 1, 2, or 3 discs...

1)Goodfellas
2)Sleepers
3)Blade Runner
4)Batman
5)Batman Returns
6)remainder of the WB Scorsese films rumored for the possible box set
7)8 Disc Matrix super-set featuring 2 discs for each film, Matrix Revisited, and the Animatrix shorts. Granted, this could go to 7 discs if Revisited were added as the 2nd disc for The Matrix
8)Shawshank Redemption
9)LA Confidential

tdilia 06-05-03 11:48 AM

Gone with the Wind
Gooodfellas
Shawshank
Robinhood (Errol Flynn)
Strangers on a Train
Rebel without a Cause

Caliking 06-05-03 01:57 PM

COOL HAND LUKE!!!!

ToddSm66 06-05-03 02:56 PM

Luckily, these great ones are already coming:

The Adventures of Robin Hood
Casablanca
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

I'd also like to see the following that havent been released at all(although, I'd gladly take 1 disc editions if that's all I could get)

White Heat
To Have and Have Not
I Am A Fugitive From A Chain Gang
The Sea Wolf
Sergeant York
Days of Wine and Roses
Dial M For Murder
The Sea Hawk
Captain Blood
The Public Enemy
The Roaring Twenties

And a few I'd like to see upgraded to 2-disc editions:

The Maltese Falcon
The Searchers
Arsenic and Old Lace
Mister Roberts
Rebel Without a Cause
Blazing Saddles

Doc Moonlight 06-05-03 09:17 PM

THE WILD BUNCH
